We studied the great evening bat (la io) in India (Meghalaya) and China (Guizhou), present 1st account of its feeding behavior. analyzed droppings collected from 119 bats between November May 2001–2002 2002–2003 India; 28 included bird feathers, with most these containing 90–100% feathers by volume. The main constituent diet overall was Coleoptera, although Lepidoptera traces Diptera, Orthoptera, Hemiptera also were found. In China, captured early November, fresh underneath roost. Bird...

We investigated the reactions of four bat species from different lineages to UV light: Hipposideros armiger (Hodgson, 1835) and Scotophilus kuhlii Leach, 1821, which use constant frequency (CF) or modulation (FM) echolocation, respectively; Rousettus leschenaultii (Desmarest, 1820) Cynopterus sphinx (Vahl, 1797), cave tree-roosting Old World fruit bats, respectively. Following acclimation training involving aversive stimuli when exposed light, individuals S. C. such displayed conditioned...

We investigated food (insect) availability in foraging areas utilized by the long-fingered bat Miniopterus fuliginosus using light traps, fish netting and fecal analysis. The dominant preys of M. were Lepidoptera (55%, volume percent) Coleoptera (38%) a relatively large body size. has long, narrow wings wing span 6.58+/-0.12 high loading 9.85+/-0.83 N/m2. echolocation calls free flying FM signals, with pulse duration 1.45+/-0.06 ms, interpulse interval 63.08+/-21.55 low frequency...

Magnetic resonance images of the brain five species wild bats, including three Microchiroptera, one echolocating Megachiroptera and nonecholocating Megachiroptera, were obtained in vivo. The relative volumes inferior colliculus superior to brainstem derived from magnetic compared among different species. In general, size was much larger Microchiropterans than Megachiropterans, Megachiropterans Megachiropterans. similar these two suborders. Agreeing with previous results consistent current...

The morphology and diet characteristics of three Myotis species roosting in the same cave were studied Anlong County, Guizhou from September to November 2005. mouse-eared bats Chinese water myotis (Myotis laniger) "body mass: (4.46±0.53) g, forearm: (34.63±1.45 mm)", fringed long-footed fimbriatus) (5.15±1.76) (35.20±1.07) mm" szechwan altarium) (10.94±0.87) (45.21±1.15) mm". There significant differences body masses species. forearm length M. altarium was significantly longer than other two...

We used the pendulum device to study Doppler-shifted compensation of great leaf-nosed bat (Hipposideros armiger). The bats' echolocation calls were recorded by Ultrasound Detector both under rest condition and Doppler shift condition. Then we analyzed with Avisoft software. Our results suggested that when H. armiger was approaching target, it showed positive compensation: call frequency velocity (v) correlated. Call fell minimum relative reached maximum; likewise raised resting became zero....

The effect of current density on the microstructure and mechanical properties cast ADC12 recycled aluminum has here been investigated by using a pulsed electric field self-developed high-power device. results showed that could refine alloy enhance its frictional properties. As result treatment, eutectic Si phase changed from long rod-like (or platelet-like) to short fiber-like) was aggregated distributed around α-Al phase. Also, needle-like β-Fe needle-like, number round spherical phases...
