We have identified cobalt-base superalloys showing a high-temperature strength greater than those of conventional nickel-base superalloys. The alloys are strengthened by ternary compound with the L1(2) structure, gamma' Co3(Al,W), which precipitates in disordered gamma face-centered cubic cobalt matrix high coherency and melting points. also compound, Ir3(Al,W), suggests that Co-Ir-Al-W-base systems gamma+gamma' (Co,Ir)3(Al,W) structures offer great promise as candidates for next-generation...

Wassonite, ideally stoichiometric TiS, is a titanium monosulfide not previously observed in nature, that was discovered within the Yamato 691 EH3 enstatite chondrite. Twelve Ti-S phase grains were identified rare barred olivine (BO) chondrule; three of extracted by focused ion beam technique. Because submicrometer size wassonite grains, it possible to determine conventional macroscopic properties. However, chemical composition and crystal structure well constrained extensive quantitative...

In order to discuss the advent of magnetic-field-induced strains for a single crystal Fe22.0Ni51.5Ga26.5 shape memory alloy, magnetic easy axis in 14 M martensite phase and magnetocrystalline anisotropy constant K have been investigated. From data on spontaneous thermal expansion magnetization curves, was determined be [010]14 M. The value estimated 1.3×105 J/m3, implying exhibit large strain.

It found that the is sensitively dependent on volume ratio Fe3O4. effect due to specific structure whereby congregate in air gaps created by particles, reducing demagnetizing field particles.
