Inducible costimulatory molecule (ICOS) plays a pivotal role in T cell activation and Th1/Th2 differentiation. ICOS blockade has disparate effects on immune responses depending the timing of blockade. Its transplantation immunity, however, remains incompletely defined. We used vascularized mouse cardiac allograft model to explore signaling at different time points after transplantation, targeting initiation (early blockade) or effector phase (delayed blockade). In major...

The inability to reproducibly induce robust and durable transplant tolerance using CD28-B7 pathway blockade is in part related the persistence of alloreactive effector/memory CD8(+) T cells that are less dependent on this for their cellular activation. We studied role novel cell costimulatory pathway, CD27-CD70, alloimmunity presence absence signaling. Some regions of the genomes human B-lymphotrophic virus (HBLV), also designated as herpesvirus 6, and Marek's disease were found to hybridize each other under moderate stringent conditions, scoring from 10 30% base-pair mismatch. Nucleotide sequence analysis showed that a 6-base-pair repetitive sequence, GGGTTA (DR2), present in IRS-IRL junction region genome, was reiterated HBLV genome. The function(s) such is unknown, but this first report homology between nonhuman herpesvirus.

Abstract The mechanisms underlying physiological regulation of alloimmune responses remain poorly defined. We investigated the roles cytokines, CTLA-4, CD25+ T cells, and apoptosis in regulating vivo. Two murine cardiac transplant models were used, B10.D2 (minor mismatch) C57BL/6 (major mismatch), into BALB/c recipients. Recipients wild type, STAT4−/− (Th1 deficient), or STAT6−/− (Th2 deficient) mice. Minor mismatched allografts accepted spontaneously ∼70% type By contrast, there was...

A polymeric bipolar TFT with a single channel layer has been successfully realized. In the present TFT, interpenetrating network layer, consisting of PAT12 and electron transport dye, was formed by spin-coating. The current-voltage characteristics are qualitatively similar to those heterostructure TFT. some advantages in fabrication compared

In our search for molecules involved in the process of osteoclast differentiation, we examined surface phenotypes preosteoclast-like cells and osteoclast-like multinucleated (MNCs) formed bone marrow cultures, using monoclonal antibodies recognizing different antigen expressed on hematopoietic cells. Among these cell antigens, lymphocyte function-associated antigen-1 (LFA-1) intercellular adhesion molecule-1 (ICAM-1) were highly mononuclear cultures forming The double detection two with...

Peripheral tolerance can be achieved in many but not all murine allograft models. The requirements for controlling more aggressive immune responsiveness and generating peripheral stringent models are unknown. Understanding these will provide insight toward ultimately achieving humans, which also resistant. To realize a high current under focusing operation we investigated the structure of double-gated field emitter arrays (FEAs) and tried to anodize tip silicon emitters. It was found from these investigations that FEAs with thick extraction gate could maintain emission during operation. Furthermore, anodized Si achieved per about 300 nA

The objectives of this study were to detect effective genetic polymorphisms bovine growth hormone (bGH) gene associated with calf weight in Japanese Black cattle. Fifty-eight sires and 47 breeding cows used the exons by single-strand conformation polymorphism (SSCP). Four homozygous six heterozygous SSCP genotypes identified exon 5. Although each single nucleotide (SNP) had been reported, these caused three SNPs at positions 2141, 2277 2291. haplotypes C-C-A, G-C-A, C-C-C G-T-A newly...
