A 6-year-old, intact female cat presented with sudden collapse. Clinical examinations indicated severe regenerative anemia and a large abdominal mass containing fluid. An exploratory laparotomy revealed cystic lesion at the cranial end of right uterine horn. Ovariohysterectomy was performed, made full recovery. The contained blood clot 102 mL blood. Histological examination confirmed that hemorrhagic located within fallopian tube. thickened uterus vasodilation histologically diagnosed as...
Clinicopathological features of mammary gland tumors (MGTs) in 101 dogs were evaluated retrospectively. The incidence histological malignancy 60 small- and 41 other-breed 25% 58.5%, respectively. In 82 epithelial MGTs, small-sized (< 3 cm) or non-invasive predominant small breeds. multivariate survival analysis, breed (p=0.048) lower stage tumor cell invasion (p=0.006) significantly associated with longer time. These results suggest that the biological MGTs is small-breed than others.
The efficacy of recombinant human bone morphogenetic protein-2 (rhBMP-2) combined with poly D, L lactic-co-glycolic acid (PLGA)/gelatin sponge complex (PGS) as a carrier on the repair segmental long-bone defects was evaluated using an ulnar model in dogs. defect 2 cm length and fixed plating. After implantation PGS or without rhBMP-2, process by serial radiography until 16 postoperative weeks. All treated 160 micrograms 640 rhBMP-2/PGS revealed union radiographically 12 weeks, whereas all...
We assessed the effects of cardiac re-synchronization therapy (CRT) in patients who developed otherwise unexplained heart failure (HF) during right ventricular apical (RVA)-pacing for acquired complete atrioventricular block (CAVB).Eighteen consecutive CAVB with HF RVA-pacing were haemodynamic studies immediately and 12 months after CRT-upgrade. Ten had idiopathic 13 showed normal left (LV) function at RVA-pacemaker implantation. 81 +/- 10 months. duration correlated (r = 0.49, P < 0.05) LV...
We evaluated the postsurgical outcomes of cutaneous or subcutaneous mast cell tumors (MCTs, n=25) in 23 dogs, resected with lateral surgical margins proportional to widest tumor diameter, including at least one facial plane. The diameter range was 0.3–2.6 cm (median: 0.9 cm), and all were histologically diagnosed as Kiupel's low-grade MCT. Resection complete 20, close (deep margin) three, incomplete two. No dogs developed local recurrence site initial surgery during follow-up 161–2,219 days...
A cutaneous mass at the base of retroauricular region a 4-year-old, female Golden Retriever was examined pathologically. Histologically, formed multiple nodules consisting proliferation large clear cells with abundant cytoplasm. Mitotic figures among neoplastic were very sparse. The intensely positive for cytokeratins (AE1/AE4, cytokeratin 8 and 18) moderately lysozyme contained periodic acid-Schiff-positive granules in In addition, small flat lined islands cells, these strongly alpha-smooth...
A 7-year-old spayed female Pomeranian with a 6-month history of progressive paraparesis was determined to have syringomyelia accompanied hydrocephalus. Magnetic resonance imaging clearly revealed severe in the cervical portion spinal cord, which directly connected marked dilated fourth ventricle. Acetazolamide prescribed for 3 weeks, but neurologic deficits progressed. Laminectomy first and second vertebrae, is one method treating this type human beings, performed, then, acetazolamide...
A large subcutaneous mass at the left cervical site in a 9-year-old male Siberian husky was removed surgically. Histopathologically, mainly consisted of proliferation spindle-shaped neoplastic cells arranging solid sheath and partially vascular channels containing few blood cells. The tumor exhibited highly invasive activity to surrounding tissues. In addition, were immunopositive for Factor VIII-related antigen. On basis these findings, diagnosed as lymphangiosarcoma. Recurrent noticed 3...
A 5-year-old female border collie presented with erythematous skin lesions at the axillae, groin, mucocutaneous junctions, and pinnae. Biopsy revealed lymphocytic interface dermatitis hydropic degeneration of basal cells keratinocyte apoptosis. Based on gross histological features, diagnosis erythema multiforme was made. The disease resolved by treatment azathioprine, prednisolone, a hypoallergenic diet. Finally, lesion controlled without drug therapy but recurred easily every time...
A 4-year-old female French bulldog presented with a 6-month history of right-sided head tilt and acute onset ataxia. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) showed large mass lesion at the cerebellomedullary pontine angle. The dog was able to stand walk after beginning symptomatic therapy prednisolone, acetazolamide glycerin. 10 months first examination indicated slight expansion tumor. continuous for 15 until death, although persisted. On postmortem examination, gross tumor slightly larger than...
This is the first report on successful treatment of spontaneous nonunion fracture a dog by use recombinant human bone morphogenetic protein-2 (rhBMP-2). A 4-year-old Pomeranian with 2-year history femoral was treated implantation rhBMP-2. The had received surgical correction twice prior to admission but radiography affected limb revealed typical figure fracture. Glossly, fractured ends were sclerotic and area between filled fibrous tissue. After debridement shaft fixed an 8-hole plate....
A 14-year-old spayed female cat weighing 2.3 kg developed tension pneumoperitoneum that progressed for 6 hr. Abdominocentesis was performed and 1.3 L of gas aspirated after which the cat's respiratory condition improved. The next day, abdomen redistended, laparotomy performed. gastric perforation noted sutured margin resection. showed a good physical without any gastrointestinal signs at months surgery.
An 11-year-old male Golden Retriever presented with progressive weight loss, tachycardia, hyperthermia, polyuria and polydipsia. A freely movable mass, 4.5 × 4 cm in size, was palpated at the cranioventral cervical region. Hormonal study revealed high levels of serum thyroid hormones, a tentative diagnosis hyperthyroidism due to tumor made. The removed surgically diagnosed histopathologically as gland adenoma. Serum hormone decreased after surgery improved clinical signs. At 12 months...
ABSTRACT Several factors are suggested to be involved in the development of nontraumatic inguinal hernias (NTIHs) dogs, but case series studies focusing on etiology and treatment outcomes limited. The aim this study was retrospectively evaluate clinical characteristics NTIHs dogs. Medical records 42 dogs with surgically treated were reviewed. Forty-one included study, all small breeds weighing <10 kg, middle older age (>5 yr old; 33 cases), female sex (34 miniature dachshunds...
Surgery and platinum-based chemotherapy are highly efficacious for treating advanced ovarian cancers in humans, but their efficacy is less known dogs. We evaluated the long-term treatment outcomes of seven dogs with malignant tumors abdominal effusion. Ovariohysterectomies (OVHs) were performed on all dogs; four had adenocarcinoma (AC) gross dissemination peritoneum (two pleural effusion), three a granulosa cell tumor (GCT) no peritoneal cavity, although one showed Effusion resolved after...
White-coat hypertension has been diagnosed arbitrarily based on different criteria. In 1997, the Joint National Committee-VI (JNC-VI) reported a new classification of and strongly emphasized importance ambulatory blood pressure (ABP) monitoring. The report pronounced normal ABP values for first time. The study's aim was to clarify relationship between casual (BP) patients with essential in each stage JNC-VI classification, prevalence white-coat by using criteria.Ambulatory monitored...
An 8-month-old female cat presented with a 1-month history of open-mouth breathing and intermittent regurgitation. Contrast radiography revealed megaesophagus (ME) large pharyngeal mass. The mass was removed by gentle traction under general anesthesia, after which the ME resolved within 9 days. diagnosed as nasopharyngeal polyp based on clinical histopathological findings. A similar recurred 50 days postoperatively, also followed four treatments methylprednisolone acetate. remained...
