Abstract The effects of heat-killed Lactobacillus plantarum L-137 (HK L-137) on chronic inflammation associated with metabolic disorders have remained unknown. We examined the HK cardiac and adipose tissue pathophysiology in DahlS.Z- Lepr fa / (DS/obese) rats as a model syndrome. DS/obese were treated orally (2 or 75 mg kg −1 day ) from 9 to 13 weeks age. attenuated left ventricular (LV) fibrosis well adipocyte hypertrophy, inflammation, up-regulation sterol regulatory element–binding...

Bifidobacterium animalis subsp. lactis GCL2505 has been shown to have some positive effects on health, including improved defecation frequency and reduced visceral fat. These are thought be due GCL2505′s unique ability reach the intestine in a viable form proliferate after single intake. This leads an increased number of intestinal bifidobacteria. randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled, parallel-group study was conducted confirm that intake inulin (a prebiotic) improve cognitive...

Abstract More than 95% of polyunsaturated acid (PUFA) was converted to triacylglycerol by immobilized lipase from Candida antarctica or Rhizomucor miehei . The esterification carried out at 50–60°C with shaking and dehydration for 24 h. substrates consisted glycerol free fatty ethyl esters the a 1∶3 molar ratio. docosahexaenoic (DHA) eicosapentaenoic (EPA) in substrate polymerized during reaction, they required 5–10% more stoichiometric amount compensate PUFA loss. On contrary, DHA EPA were...

Bifidobacterium animalis subsp. lactis GCL2505 has been shown to have several positive health effects, including improved defecation frequency and reduced visceral fat. It is known that combined intake of inulin increases the total number bifidobacteria compared with ingestion alone. This randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled, parallel-group study was conducted confirm consumption reduces abdominal fat (n = 120). Participants consumed a test beverage containing 1 × 1010 colony-forming...

We report here two patients in both of whom ileus finally developed and chronic ischemic colonic lesion caused by phlebosclerosis with calcification was diagnosed. believe that is an old-fashioned diagnostic term, but appropriate because the remarkable sclerotic walls colic veins seems to be one most important hallmarks this previously unrecognized, “new” condition. Phlebosclerosis could a novel type colitis its unique clinical presentations, although pathogenesis unusual venopathy remains unknown.

Bifidobacterium animalis subsp. lactis GCL2505 in combination with inulin has been shown to have several health benefits, including an improvement the intestinal microbiota and a reduction human visceral fat. Previous studies suggested that fat of may be achieved by improving daily energy expenditure. This parallel, placebo-controlled, randomized, double-blind study was conducted evaluate effects on resting expenditure (REE) overweight or mildly obese Japanese adults (n = 44). Participants...

This randomized, placebo-controlled, double-blind study aimed evaluate the effects of L. on human cells and onset common cold. Methods: Two hundred participants were divided into two groups took capsules containing either six billion or placebo for 8 weeks. Results: In group, cumulative incidence days symptoms such as feverishness, fatigue, tiredness, runny nose, nasal...

There is controversy about clinical management of individuals who persistently have hepatitis C virus antibodies (HCVAb) but no symptoms or signs liver disease. Liver biopsy samples were taken from 15 individuals, all whom had normal alanine aminotransferase (ALT) levels, to determine the prevalence disease and whether HCVAb HCV-RNA correlate with histological findings. Eleven patients viremia evidence chronic on biopsy. On other hand, four HCV-RNA-negative almost histology. These findings...

Bifidobacterium animalis subsp. lactis GCL2505 (GCL2505) improves the intestinal microbiota and reduces human visceral fat. This randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled, parallel-group study was conducted to examine effects of inulin, a prebiotic dietary fiber, on vascular endothelial function in healthy subjects (n = 60). The test drink contained 2.0 g/100 g inulin 1.0 × 1010 colony-forming units/100 consumed daily for 12 weeks. Flow-mediated dilation set as primary endpoint. Subgroup...

A 53-year-old woman with polymyositis associated thymoma subsequently developed pure red cell aplasia (PRCA). She was hospitalized because of fever and muscle weakness, diagnosed as having by biopsy. Remarkable clinical improvement followed administration prednisolone. Progressive anemia became evident, however, while prednisolone being tapered. Erythroid the presence confirmed diagnosis PRCA. Further examinations revealed that cytotoxic T cells may play an important role in pathogenesis this case.
