An NAD(P)H-dependent Cr(VI) reductase (molecular weight = 65,000) was purified from a Cr(VI)-resistant bacterium, Pseudomonas ambigua G-1. Stoichiometric analysis of the enzymatic reaction showed that enzyme catalyzed reduction 1 mol to Cr(III) while consuming 3 NADH as an electron donor. Chromium(VI) reduced Cr(V) by one equivalent molecule in absence enzyme. Electron spin resonance species (g 1.979) formed during reduction. The amount about 10 times larger than nonezymatic These findings...

A nanocomposite of dodecanethiol-passivated gold clusters and a silica aerogel has been synthesized. The particles were efficiently absorbed in wet gel the not flushed out during sc-CO2 drying. This can lead to very simple efficient way production devices with high nonlinear optical properties or catalytic activity. Figure shows photographic image composite aerogel.

Singly charged cations of silver atoms and clusters (Agn+, n=1,3,5,7,9) were deposited on highly oriented pyrolytic graphite substrates at well-controlled, various collision energies. The total amount Ag remaining the after was quantified by measuring 3d5/2 photoelectron intensities. energy dependence revealed that, for all species, there are three distinct regions, which soft landing, rebounding, or implantation is a dominant process, that ranges processes strongly depend cluster size....

A mixing volume model (MVM) originally proposed for molecular diffusion in incompressible flows is extended as a and thermal conduction compressible turbulence. The model, established implementation Lagrangian simulations, based on the interactions among spatially distributed notional particles within finite volume. MVM tested with direct numerical simulation of planar jets jet Mach number ranging from 0.6 to 2.6. well predicts wide range size particles. In transitional region jet, where...

In this work, we demonstrated a novel, sensitive and effective fluorescent naringin (NRG) naringenin (NRGe) detection method using polymethionine nanoparticles (PMNPs) as nanoprobe. The PMNPs were first synthesized by autopolymerization of methionine at 90 °C when trace copper ions existed. as-prepared thoroughly characterized transmission electron microscopy (TEM), Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), gel permeation chromatograph (GPC), nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR),...
