Metastasis to the thyroid gland from non-thyroid sites is relatively rare and often poses a diagnostic difficulty on fine-needle aspiration cytology, as it mimics primary neoplasms. All cases of fine needle cytology (FNAC) metastasis (2014-2022) were selected pathology database. The detailed cytopathological features histopathology studied. There was total 18 secondary tumours thyroid. All had confirmed histopathological data. most common in our study squamous cell carcinoma oesophagus (nine...

The diagnosis of cases atypia undetermined significance/follicular lesion significance (AUS/FLUS) by fine needle aspiration cytology (FNAC) is challenging for both cytopathologists and clinicians. It extremely difficult to predict the risk malignancy based on cytological features alone. In this study, we attempted construct an artificial neural network (ANN) model in FNAC AUS/FLUS thyroid lesions features. We included two groups cases: (1) 29 histopathologically proven malignancy, (2) 32 that...

Abstract Most salivary gland neoplasms are of epithelial origin. Sarcomas the parotid gland, including leiomyosarcoma, exceedingly rare mesenchymal tumours. A definitive diagnosis leiomyosarcoma is challenging on cytomorphology alone. We herein describe a case 41‐year‐old woman who presented with swelling. The patient was previously diagnosed histopathology. Fine needle aspiration cytology done from this recurrent Cytomorphology combined cell block immunocytochemistry fruitful in confirming...

Germ cell tumours infrequently metastasise to body cavities, where early detection on fluid samples is possible and can spearhead treatment survival.A total of seven cases metastatic germ were retrieved out 7500 effusion received for cytopathological examination from 2015 2021. Detailed cytological features in studied, along with a correlation between clinical, radiological, histopathological features.A analysed which included dysgerminoma (2), immature teratoma yolk sac tumour (1),...

Background: Carcinoma of the esophagus poses a considerable medical and public health challenge in many parts world. Despite advances screening multimodal management this disease, overall survival remains poor. There is an utmost need to find marker for establishment targeted immunotherapy. One immunohistochemical that has surfaced with advent anti-PDL1 immunotherapy PD-L1 which been proven be advantageous. This study aimed determine expression its correlation grade tumor other...

Objective: Atypia of undetermined significance (AUS) is an indeterminate category which presents a significant challenge for pathologists and clinicians. The management options are dependent on the rate malignancy given populace. Material Methods: This retrospective analysis 61 cases AUS Bethesda III with grouping into neoplastic non-neoplastic according to histopathology data clinical follow-up. Detailed cytomorphological features were analyzed image morphometry was done using J software....

Drug-induced thrombocytopenia, hemolytic anemia, and leukopenia are serious, sometimes fatal, complications of common medications. These conditions challenging to diagnose in patients with polytrauma injuries due the presence multiple potential etiologies. In such clinical scenarios, sepsis-induced disseminated intravascular coagulation is a more frequent diagnosis. The manifestations these can be indistinguishable. We present case 32-year-old man who sustained left open grade 2 leg fracture...

Osteoclast-like giant cell-rich variant of anaplastic thyroid carcinoma is extremely uncommon. In this paper we describe one such case in a 50 year-old male. The patient presented with enlarged cervical lymph node after initial total thyroidectomy. fine needle aspiration cytology (FNAC) smear showed abundant multinucleated osteoclastic-like cells and scattered large bizarre tumour cells. FNAC cases may often be mistaken as osteoclast-like lesions.

Abstract Medullary thyroid carcinoma is a neuroendocrine tumor derived from parafollicular or ‘C’ cells with sporadic and familial forms. Fine needle aspiration cytology quick way to establish the diagnosis. Sometimes usual may show prominent spindling on cytomorphology due sampling issues, which poses diagnostic challenge. When encountering spindled smears thyroid, differential diagnoses encompass many benign malignant lesions. We present cytological findings of type medullary showing...
