Seed-setting rate is a critical determinant of grain yield in rice (Oryza sativa L.). Rapid and healthy pollen tube growth the style required for high seed-setting rate. The molecular mechanisms governing this process remain largely unknown. In study, we isolate dominant low mutant, sss1-D. Cellular examination results show that blocked about half mutant styles. Molecular cloning functional assays reveals SSS1-D encodes OsCNGC13, member cyclic nucleotide-gated channel family. OsCNGC13...

Summary Endosperm, the major storage organ in cereal grains, determines grain yield and quality. Despite fact that a role for P‐type pentatricopeptide repeat ( PPR ) proteins regulation of endosperm development has emerged, molecular functions many remain obscure. Here, we report rice defective mutant, floury endosperm10 flo10 ), which developed smaller starch grains starchy abnormal cells aleurone layer. Map‐based cloning rescued experiments showed FLO 10 encodes protein with 26 motifs, is...

Starch is the most important form of energy storage in cereal crops. Many key enzymes involved starch biosynthesis have been identified. However, molecular mechanisms underlying regulation are largely unknown. In this study, we isolated a novel floury endosperm rice (Oryza sativa) mutant flo16 with defective grain (SG) formation. The amylose content and amylopectin structure were both altered mutant. Map-based cloning complementation tests demonstrated that FLO16 encodes NAD-dependent...

Summary Floral organ identity in plants is controlled by floral homeotic A/B/C/D/E‐class genes. In Arabidopsis thaliana, several epigenetic repressors that regulate these genes have been characterized. However, the roles of factors rice development not explored detail. Here, we report identification and functional characterization a repressor, DEFORMED FLORAL ORGAN 1 ( DFO ) gene, which causes abnormal morphology when mutated. We isolated dfo1 mapping, confirmed its function rescue...

Carbon dioxide concentration (CO2 ) and light intensity are known to play important roles in plant growth carbon assimilation. Nevertheless, the underlying physiological mechanisms have not yet been fully explored. Tomato seedlings (Solanum lycopersicum Mill. cv. Jingpeng No. 1) were exposed two levels of CO2 three effects on growth, leaf gas exchange water use efficiency investigated. Elevated increased promoted dry matter accumulation pigment together seedling health index. had no...

Blue-light-mediated cyclopropanation of indoles with aryl(diazo)acetates has been developed. The salient features this strategy are that it is metal-free, operationally simple and atom-efficient, uses an environmentally friendly energy source. In protocol, blue light was employed as the sole source for transformation. A variety cyclopropane-fused indoline compounds obtained in moderate to excellent yields high diastereoselectivities under mild conditions.

Thioredoxins (TRXs) occur in plant chloroplasts as complex disulphide oxidoreductases. Although many biological processes are regulated by thioredoxins, the regulatory mechanism of chloroplast TRXs largely unknown. Here we report a rice white panicle2 mutant caused mutation thioredoxin z gene, an orthologue AtTRX Arabidopsis. (wp2) seedlings exhibited high-temperature-sensitive albinic phenotype. We found that plastid multiple organellar RNA editing factors (MORFs) were targets z. showed...

Plants are subject to attack by diverse pests and pathogens. Few genes conferring broad-spectrum resistance both insects pathogens have been identified. Because of the growth-defense tradeoff, it is often challenging balance biotic stress yield for crops. Here, we report that OsWRKY36 suppresses via transcriptional repression Phenylalanine Ammonia Lyases (PALs), a key enzyme in phenylpropanoid pathway rice. Knocking out causes elevated lignin biosynthesis increased sclerenchyma thickness...

Abstract. Based on a snow depth dataset retrieved from meteorological stations, this experiment explored indices, including (SD), covered days (SCDs), and phenology variations, across China 1951 to 2018. The results indicated that the cover in exhibits regional differences. annual mean SD tended increase, increases maximum were 0.04 cm 0.1 per decade, respectively. SCDs increase by approximately 0.5 decade. significant concentrated at latitudes higher than 40° N, especially Northeast China....

Chromosomal architecture, which is constituted by chromatin loops, plays an important role in cellular functions. Gene expression and cell identity can be regulated the loop, formed proximal or distal enhancers promoters linear DNA (1D). Enhancers are fundamental non-coding elements enriched with transcription factors (TFs) to form loops. However, specific cooperation of TFs involved forming loops not fully understood. Here, we proposed a method for investigating four lines integrative...
