Abstract A series of tubular molecules with different lengths have been synthesized by attaching Trp‐incorporated peptides to the pillar[5]arene backbone. The are able insert into lipid bilayer form unimolecular transmembrane channels. One channels has revealed specifically Gram‐positive bacteria. In contrast, this channel cannot membranes mammalian rat erythrocytes even at high concentration 100 μ m . It was further demonstrated that, as a result membrane selectivity, exhibits efficient...

The obtained results indicated that methane production could be significantly enhanced by all used in test. maximum cumulative yield 218.45 L per kg VS for culture with corn straws pyrolyzed at 600 °C which also exhibited largest specific surface area. Adding an appropriate amount beneficial to improve yield, while excessive addition inhibit AD...

Molecular knots and entanglements form randomly spontaneously in both biological synthetic polymer chains. It is known that macroscopic materials, such as ropes, are substantially weakened by the presence of knots, but until now it has been unclear whether similar behaviour occurs on a molecular level. Here we show well-defined overhand knot chain increases rate scission under tension (≥2.6× faster) solution, because deformation backbone induced tightening activates otherwise unreactive...

The rational design of α-helix-mimicking peptidomimetics provides a streamlined approach to discover potent inhibitors for protein-protein interactions (PPIs). However, designing cell-penetrating long peptidomimetic scaffolds equipped with various functional groups necessary interacting large protein-binding interfaces remains challenging. This is particularly true targeting β-catenin/BCL9 PPIs. Here we designed series unprecedented helical sulfono-γ-AApeptides that mimic the binding mode...

We have investigated the mechanical dissociation of an ammonium/crown ether rotaxane using experimental (sonication) and computational (CoGEF) methods found that it breaks faster than its noninterlocked or uncoupled interlocked (i.e., pulled from both sides axle) counterparts. This was confirmed by analysis fragments, which are results a selective unstoppering reaction. Interestingly, initial also triggered elimination axle segment separating stopper ammonium binding station. CoGEF...

Abstract Neural progenitor cell (NPC) migration is an essential process for brain development, adult neurogenesis, and neuroregeneration after injury. Stromal cell-derived factor-1 (SDF-1, CXCL12) its traditional receptor CXCR4 are well known to regulate NPC migration. However, the discovery of CXCR7, a newly identified CXCL12 receptor, adds dynamics existing CXCL12/CXCR4 pair. Antagonists either or CXCR7 blocked CXCL12-mediated in transwell chemotaxis assay, suggesting that both receptors...

Mechanophores (mechanoresponsive molecules) offer great promises for the development of smart force-responsive materials. The activity a mechanophore can be tuned by altering its structure or composition actuating polymer. Here we show that [2]catenane act as mechanical protecting group diverting tensional forces away from mechanically active functional embedded in one rings. This property emerges mobility two rings catenane, which are able to rotate along each other until tension equalizes...

Abstract Three unimolecular peptide channels have been designed and prepared by using the β‐helical conformation of gramicidin A (gA). The new peptides bear one to three NH 3 + groups at N‐end CO 2 − C‐end. These zwitterionic were inserted into lipid bilayers in an orientation‐selective manner. Conductance experiments on planar showed that this orientation bias could lead observable directional K transport under multi‐channel conditions. This behavior can further cause generation a current...
