Highly pathogenic strains of Staphylococcus aureus can cause disease in both humans and animals. In animal species, including ruminants, S. may severe or sub-clinical mastitis. Dairy animals with mastitis frequently shed into the milk supply which lead to food poisoning humans. The aim this study was use genotypic immunological methods characterize isolates from milk-related samples collected 7 dairy farms across Victoria. A total 30 were filter 3 bovine, caprine 1 ovine Victoria, Australia....

To characterise the occurrence of Cronobacter in milk powder factories.Cronobacter was isolated from 32% 298 environmental samples five factories. More isolations occurred nonprocessing (49%) than processing areas (29%), although greatest a single area during shutdown maintenance (81%) and lowest after reinstatement production hygiene practices (6%). Clonal analysis using PFGE placed 129 isolates into 49 groups. Most clones (45) were unique to each factory seven both other same including...

The Bacillus cereus sensu lato group and Clostridium perfringens are spore-forming bacteria often associated with food spoilage which can cause emetic diarrheal syndromes in humans ruminants. This study characterised the phenotypes genotypes of 50 s. l. isolates 26 from dairy farms environments Victoria, Australia.Five seven B. species were isolated, analysis population diversity using Pulsed-Field Gel Electrophoresis (PFGE) suggested that populations largely distinct to each farm....

ABSTRACT The draft genome sequence of Aspergillus oryzae ATCC 16868 is presented here. A. produces carbohydrase and proteolytic enzymes used in the production fermented food feed. Genomic data have been utilized to investigate allergenicity virulence characteristics, contributing its safety evaluation systems.

The Probelia™Salmonella sp. PCR amplification and detection kits (Sanofi Diagnostics Pasteur, Marnes La Coquette, France) were evaluated for the rapid specific of Salmonella agona artificially inoculated into skim milk powder ricotta cheese. Probelia™ results compared with those obtained using Australian Standard Method. Using a pure culture Salm. agona, limit was between 8 79 cfu ml−1, equivalent to 0·2–2 per reaction. Detection in (at 5–10 g−1, stored at 5, 15 or 25 °C) cheese 1–2, 10–20...

Salmonellosis in Australia has been linked to eggs and egg products with specific serotypes associated outbreaks. We compared attachment survival on shells growth of two Salmonella serotypes, an outbreak Typhimurium a non-egg-associated enterica ssp. II 1,4,12,27:b:[e,n,x] ( S . Sofia). Experiments were conducted at combinations 4, 15, 22, 37 42°C. No significant differences occurred between the maximum rates, which significantly greater (<mml:math...

BACKGROUND Only a few genetic variants have been reported in regulatory elements of blood group genes. Most them affect GATA motifs, binding sites for the GATA‐1 transcription factor. STUDY DESIGN AND METHODS Samples from two patients and one donor with unusual or discrepant serology ABO, RhD, RhCE antigens were analyzed by DNA sequencing. Analyzed regions included coding sequence portions elements. The effect some on gene expression was evaluated reporter assays. RESULTS Three new alleles...
