ABSTRACT Carbapenem resistance in Bacteroides fragilis is associated with cfiA -encoded class B metallo-beta-lactamase. -negative and -positive isolates belong to genotypically distinct groups. Of a total of 248 B. included this study, 214 were susceptible, 10 intermediate, 24 resistant meropenem. We show that matrix-assisted laser desorption ionization–time flight mass spectrometry able differentiate between predict carbapenem routine laboratory setting.

Introduction. Haemophilus influenzae ( Hi ) was long known as an easy-to-treat bacterium, but increasing resistance against beta-lactams and other critically important antibiotics is now a growing concern. We describe here the whole-genome sequencing (WGS) analysis of three non-typeable isolates received in 2018–2019 by Belgian National Reference Centre (NRC) for , they presented unusual multi-resistant profile. Methods. All were sequenced WGS mapped to reference isolate Rd KW20. Shorten...

ABSTRACT The performance of matrix-assisted laser desorption–ionization time flight mass spectrometry (MALDI-TOF MS) for species identification Prevotella was evaluated and compared with 16S rRNA gene sequencing. Using a Bruker database, 62.7% the 102 clinical isolates were identified to level 73.5% genus level. Extension commercial database improved these figures to, respectively, 83.3% 89.2%. MALDI-TOF MS is reliable but needs more extensive database.

Sequence-based typing (SBT) is a discriminatory method widely used to genotype Legionella pneumophila strains. A total of 86 clinical L. serogroup 1 (sg1) isolates, collected between January 2000 and December 2010 in the two Belgian National Reference Centres for pneumophila, were genotyped using internationally standardised SBT protocol European Working Group Infections (EWGLI). The isolates could be classified into 31 different sequence types (ST, index diversity: 0.879). obtained STs...

This study is the first prospective to assess prevalence, epidemiology, and risk factors of HIV-1 drug resistance in newly diagnosed HIV-infected patients Belgium. In January 2003 it was initiated as part pan-European SPREAD program, continued thereafter for four inclusion rounds until December 2006. Epidemiological, clinical, behavioral data were collected using a standardized questionnaire genotypic testing done on sample taken within 6 months diagnosis. Two hundred eighty-five included....
