Abstract Sheet AA2024‐T3 is probably one of the most studied aluminium alloys in corrosion field, because, with copper as an alloying addition, it corrosion‐prone alloys. This paper reports new findings on composition and distribution intermetallic (IM) particles through examination over 80 000 compositional domains nearly 18 IM particles. work was achieved by using electron microprobe to map out 2 × mm at a step size 400 nm. study revealed that individual can vary considerably from...
Abstract Secondary phosphate assemblages from the Hagendorf Süd granitic pegmatite, containing new Mn-Al mineral, nordgauite, have been characterized using scanning electron microscopy and microprobe analysis. Nordgauite nodules enclose crystals of jahnsite—whiteite group minerals, showing pronounced compositional zoning, spanning full range Fe/Al ratios between jahnsite whiteite. The whiteite-rich members are F-bearing, whereas jahnsite-rich contain no F. Associated minerals include...
The effect of electron beam induced carbon contamination on the corrosion behavior aluminum alloy 2024-T3 (AA2024-T3) has been investigated using immersion and polarization-type tests. For test, was deposited a polished surface AA2024‑T3 in form concentric squares increasing thickness toward center. sample then corroded 0.1 M NaCl for 80 hrs at room temperature subsequently examined scanning microscope (SEM) to determine how matrix intermetallic phases behaved under layer. Results indicated...

Summary Quartz is one of the major constitutive minerals sedimentary rocks and its abundance in shales thought to have a significant control on their mechanical properties as well efficiency hydraulic fracturing stimulation. While mineralogy based estimations strength deformation behaviour (brittle or ductile) are commonly used practical applications, it should be noted that they do not account for parameters like phase distribution cementation also affect elastic properties. can occur at...
Based on research conducted in a joint CSIRO-Pasminco programme, Pasminco has recently proposed new specification for soft lead to suit the increasing performance requirements regulated lead-acid (VRLA) batteries. In this specification, bismuth (Bi), which been demonstrated as being beneficial, is increased level produces significant improvements battery performance. By contrast, other common impurities are known be harmful VRLA batteries restricted very low levels. Bi-bearing oxide (either...
