Disease resistance of plants involves two distinct forms chemical communication with the pathogen: recognition and defense. Both are essential components a highly complex, multifaceted defense response, which begins non-self through perception pathogen-derived signal molecules results in production, inter alia, antibiotically active compounds (phytoalexins) cell wall-reinforcing material around infection site. To elucidate molecular details genomic basis underlying chains events, we used...

Dendrobium officinale is a precious traditional Chinese medicinal plant because of its abundant polysaccharides found in stems. We determined the composition water-soluble and starch content D. The extracted polysaccharide was as high 35% (w/w). Analysis monosaccharides showed that were dominated by mannose, to lesser extent glucose, small amount galactose, molar ratio 223:48:1. Although also found, less than 10%. This result indicated major stems non-starch polysaccharides, which might be...

Abstract Members of the MYB superfamily act as regulators in a wide range biological processes plants. Despite this, from Orchidaceae has not been identified, and genes related to bioactive water-soluble polysaccharide (WSP) biosynthesis are relatively unknown. In this study, we identified 159 165 two orchids, Phalaenopsis equestris Dendrobium officinale , respectively. The proteins were classified into four classes both orchids: MYB-related (MYBR), R2R3-MYB, 3R-MYB atypical proteins. MYBR...

GDP-mannose pyrophosphorylase (GMP) catalyzed the formation of GDP-mannose, which serves as a donor for biosynthesis mannose-containing polysaccharides. In this study, three GMP genes from Dendrobium officinale (i.e., DoGMPs) were cloned and analyzed. The putative 1000 bp upstream regulatory region these DoGMPs was isolated cis-elements identified, indicates their possible role in responses to abiotic stresses. DoGMP1 protein shown be localized cytoplasm. To further study function gene,...
