Few studies have comprehensively compared severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) vaccine-induced and hybrid B- T-cell responses in people with HIV (PWH) to those comparable controls without HIV. We included 195 PWH 246 from the AGEhIV COVID-19 substudy. A positive nucleocapsid antibody (INgezim IgA/IgM/IgG) or self-reported PCR test defined prior SARS-CoV-2 infection. anti-spike (anti-S) IgG titers anti-S production by memory B cells were assessed. Neutralizing...
In response to the mpox outbreak, vaccination was offered in Netherlands men who have sex with (MSM) at increased risk for mpox. Successful campaigns are leveraged by high intent-to-vaccinate, yet intent might not always lead uptake. Therefore, we assessed impact of intent-to-vaccinate and other factors on uptake among participants Amsterdam Cohort Studies (ACS). July 2022, prior campaign, distributed an online survey regarding as well e.g. beliefs, attitude, subjective norms, perception ACS...
Introduction Oral pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) prevents Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) acquisition. In the Netherlands, PrEP is accessible through national program (NPP) or general practitioners (GP). Still, some men who have sex with (MSM) entering HIV care indicated having experience prior to diagnosis. We aimed identify barriers and missed opportunities in uptake, use among MSM previous experience. Methods Between March 2022-March 2023, we conducted semi-structured in-depth...
Abstract Background Understanding the dynamics of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) household transmission is important for adequate infection control measures in this ongoing pandemic. Methods Households were enrolled upon a polymerase chain reaction–confirmed index case between October and December 2020, prior to disease 2019 vaccination program. Saliva samples obtained by self-sampling at days 1, 3, 5, 7, 10, 14, 21, 28, 35, 42 from study inclusion....
There is a lack of knowledge regarding the diet children with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). Therefore, we investigated dietary intake in pediatric IBD compared to general population and assessed anthropometrics food avoidance. In this cross-sectional cohort study, patients younger than 18 years were included (2014−2017). Dietary (total energy, macro nutrients, types) was using Food Frequency Questionnaire (FFQ) matched reference (n = 306). 102 (55% male, median age 15.0 years). Median...
Abstract Background Little is known about the risk of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) Omicron infection in people with human immunodeficiency virus (HIV; PWH) vaccine-induced or hybrid immunity. We assessed incidence 209 AGEhIV disease 2019 substudy participants well-controlled HIV on antiretroviral therapy and 280 comparable controls, who had received at least primary vaccination series. Methods From September 2020 onward, were every 6 months for SARS-CoV-2...
Kawasaki disease (KD) is a pediatric vasculitis. Its main complication the development of coronary artery aneurysms (CAA), with giant CAA at end spectrum. We evaluated regression and event-free rates in non-Asian cohort patients using current z-scores adjusted for body surface area instead absolute diameters. KD (z-score ≥10) visiting our outpatient clinic between January 1999 September 2015 were included. Patient characteristics clinical details extracted from medical records. Regression...
In August 2021, a man who has sex with men was diagnosed HIV-1 infection despite using event-driven pre-exposure prophylaxis for over 2 years self-reported excellent adherence. Sequencing identified resistance-associated mutations (RAM) M184V and K65R, conferring resistance to emtricitabine tenofovir, RAM V108I E138A. Background prevalence two of 164 (1.2%) new HIV diagnoses in Amsterdam (2017-19). We reiterate the need frequent testing among PrEP users additional case symptoms.
