The incidence, patient features, risk factors and outcomes of surgery-associated postoperative acute kidney injury (PO-AKI) across different countries health care systems is unclear. We conducted an international prospective, observational, multi-center study in 30 patients undergoing major surgery (> 2-h duration intensive unit (ICU) or high dependency admission). primary endpoint was the occurrence PO-AKI within 72 h defined by Kidney Disease: Improving Global Outcomes (KDIGO) criteria....

Abstract Background Postoperative nausea and vomiting (PONV) is a significant problem following paediatric surgery, volatile anaesthetics are an important cause of this phenomenon. BIS-guided anaesthesia, by reducing the consumption anaesthetics, leads to decrease in PONV adult patients. Study objective Evaluate role anaesthesia incidence PONV. Design Prospective, randomized, double-blind study. Setting A single center study university hospital Czech republic, from June 2021 November 2022....

Emergence delirium (ED) is a postoperative complication in pediatric anesthesia characterized by perception and psychomotor disorder, with negative impact on recovery. As the use of inhalation associated higher incidence ED, we investigated whether titrating depth general BIS monitor can reduce ED. Randomized, prospective, double-blind. Patients undergoing endoscopic adenoidectomy under according to uniform protocol. A total 163 patients both sexes aged 3-8 years were enrolled over 18...

Abstract Background Anticoagulation during extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) might still lead to severe bleeding complications. Heparin is the most frequently used anticoagulant, but novel drugs could be promising. Argatroban a new alternative heparin. To date, no robust studies have confirmed clear superiority of argatroban (AG) over heparin, although it has some advantages and may safer. Study Design Methods An observational study was conducted in all adult veno‐venous ECMO...

Massive bleeding causes approximately 50% of deaths in patients with major trauma. Most die within 6 h injury, which is preventable at least 10% cases. For these patients, early activation the massive transfusion protocol (MTP) a critical survival factor. With severe trauma, high-mobility group box 1 (HMGB-1, i.e., amphoterin) released into blood, and its levels correlate development systemic inflammatory response, traumatic coagulopathy, fibrinolysis. Previous work has shown that higher...

Unfractionated heparin has long been considered the standard anticoagulation in ECMO, despite some pitfalls such as resistance, induced thrombocytopenia (HIT), etc Recently, centres started to increasingly use argatroban for this purpose, typically using activated partial thromboplastin time (aPTT) its monitoring. Direct monitoring of efficacy Anti-IIa is not yet an established method, although it might be more appropriate targets same pathway. An observational study was performed adult...

Abstract Cerebral protection against secondary hypoxic-ischemic brain injury is a key priority area in post-resuscitation intensive care management survivors of cardiac arrest. Nevertheless, the current understanding incidence, diagnosis and its’ impact on neurological outcome remains undetermined. Intensive care of severe trauma patients focuses on the treatment haemorrhagic shock. Tissues should be perfused sufficiently with blood and sufficient oxygen content to ensure adequate tissue delivery. Tissue metabolism can monitored by microdialysis, lactate/pyruvate ratio (LPR) may used as a ischemia marker. The aim this study was determine cardiac output haemoglobin levels that avoid ischemia. Adult serious traumatic shock were enrolled in prospective observational study. primary...

AbstractAbstractAbdominal compartment syndrome (ACS) is defined as a sustained increase of intra-abdominal pressure (IAP) above 20 mmHg followed by the development organ dysfunction. Treatment ACS still question to be discussed and surgical decompression usually preferred. According recent data, massive crystalloid resuscitation shock plays key role in secondary trauma patients.
