ABSTRACT Forty‐three dogs affected by canine leishmaniasis (CL) with skin lesions have been studied clinically and histopathologically. Identification of leishmaniads in tissues was achieved using indirect immunoperoxidase staining. According to both macroscopic microscopic lesions, four different dermatological patterns observed. Twenty‐six showed alopecia desquamation as the main lesions. Histologically a diffuse non‐suppurative dermatitis, numerous inside macrophages present. Ten animals...

Listeriosis in a chicken from small farm was diagnosed by the per-oxidase-antiperoxidase (PAP) method. The animal had diffuse myocarditis and necrotic foci liver spleen. PAP technique performed on formalin-fixed tissues confirmed presumptive diagnosis. Serological microbiological studies were also done. It is concluded that method useful for diagnosis of avian listeriosis allowing retrospective with formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded tissues, avoiding cumbersome culture.
