Hereditary myotonia (HM) is characterized by delayed muscle relaxation after contraction as a result of mutation in the CLCN1 gene. We describe here complex variant mixed-breed dog with clinical and electromyographic signs HM. Blood samples from myotonic dog, well his male littermate parents, were analyzed via amplification 23 exons encoding CLCN1. After sequencing gene, was found exon 6 c.[705T>G; 708del; 712_732del], resulting premature stop codon 7 protein that 717 amino acids shorter...

Summary Ingestion of food contaminated with slaframine, an alkaloid produced by Rhizoctonia leguminicola , causes a mycotoxicosis, characterised excessive salivation. Twenty‐eight horses demonstrated this clinical sign after the consumption alfalfa hay which on inspection showed dark patches many stems. The presence slaframine (1.5 ppm) in was confirmed gas chromatography and mass spectroscopy. This is first equine toxicosis case reported Brazil.
