Many complex terpenoids, predominantly isolated from plants and fungi, show drug-like physicochemical properties. Recent advances in genome mining revealed actinobacteria as an almost untouched treasure trove of terpene biosynthetic gene clusters (BGCs). In this study, we characterized a BGC with unusual architecture. The selected includes, among others, genes encoding cyclase fused to truncated reductase domain cytochrome P450 monooxygenase (P450) that is split over three fragments....

Abstract Diallyl disulfide (DADS) and allyl methyl sulfide (AMS) have been known as a metabolic product of sulfur-containing foods, typically garlic. The odour such organosulfur compounds following garlic ingestion is often considered an unpleasant element. Although previous studies identified the DADS AMS associated with breath, no study has reported on determination both emanating from human skin surface. This aimed to demonstrate effect dermal emissions using passive flux sampler coupled...

In this study, three new garcinoic acid dimers, δ,δ-bigarcinoic (1), δ,δ-bi-O-garcinoic (2), and γ,δ-bi-O-garcinoic (3), a benzophenone derivative, (8E)-4-geranyl-3,5-dihydroxybenzophenone (4), as well seven known compounds (5–11) were isolated from the seeds of Garcinia kola. The structures elucidated using MALDI-TOF-MS spectroscopic data, including 1D 2D NMR electronic circular dichroism spectra. All evaluated for their antimicrobial activity against two oral pathogens, Porphyromonas...

The roots of Fibraurea recisa are recognized as a rich source protoberberine and aporphine alkaloids, but the non-alkaloidal metabolites in this plant underexplored. present study investigated chemical composition using untargeted metabolomics-based molecular networking MS2LDA motif annotation, revealing presence characteristic fragment related to several sinapoyl-functionalized metabolites. Guided by targeted motif, two new sinapic acid-ecdysteroid hybrids, named 3-O-sinapoyl makisterone A...

Procyanidins, found widely in foods and beverages, are prone to oxidation, yet the chemical structures of their oxidation products mechanisms involved remain unclear. Herein, we report that conformation procyanidin B4 influences its stereochemistry. Eight spirocyclized were obtained from classified as S- or R-forms based on configuration spiro carbons. The ratios derived compact extended rotamers B4, respectively, varied with solvent. DFT calculations suggested four lowest-energy conformers...

Abstract Most of the wood bark produced by forestry production is discarded in spite containing many kinds phytochemical ingredients. The aim present study was to identify secondary metabolites from Larix kaempferi generated as waste material and evaluate their potential cosmetic agents. Eighteen compounds, including a novel phenanthrene, 4,6,7-trihydroxyphenanthrene-2- O - β -D-glucopyranoside ( 16 ), were isolated L. identified matrix assisted laser desorption ionization-time flight mass...
