Abstract In response to the subduction of young Shikoku Basin Philippine Sea Plate, arc magmas erupted in SW Japan throughout late Cenozoic. Many magma types are present including ocean island basalt (OIB), shoshonite (SHO), arc‐type alkali (AB), typical subalkalic (SAB), high‐Mg andesite (HMA), and adakite (ADK). OIB since back‐arc basin opened, whereas subsequent accompanied Basin. However, there origin relation hot is debated. Using new major trace element Sr‐Nd‐Pb‐Hf isotope analyses 324...

Serotonin is known to modulate the response of neuronal populations in primary olfactory center moth system, antennal lobe. Here, we analyzed effects serotonin on behavior related restricted pheromone pathway male silkmoth, Bombyx mori. In order understand at behavioral level, applied (10(-5) mol l(-1), 10(-4) l(-1) and 10(-3) l(-1)) brain found that increases sensitivity female whereas had opposite effect. Levels were determined using HPLC with electrochemical detection. Inhibitory observed...

Recently, reports of influenza-associated encephalopathy have increased worldwide. Given the high mortality and morbidity rates attributable to this severe neurologic complication influenza, we conducted a nationwide study in Japan identify prognostic factors. We retrospectively evaluated 442 cases that were reported Collaborative Study Group on Influenza-Associated Encephalopathy, which was organized by Japanese Ministry Health, Labor, Welfare collaboration with hospitals, clinics, local...

Prestressed concrete piles with closed-ended circular hollow sections (spun piles) are sometimes used as foundations for pile-supported wharves. Due to a reduction in the rebar area, compressive strength, yield strength of PC-bar, and bond between PC-bar concrete, corrosion attacks typically lower performance spun marine environment. A comprehensive analysis effect on mechanical properties pile materials is crucial assess corroded plies. Using three-dimensional finite element (FEA), this...

Abstract Temporal–spatial variations in Late Cenozoic volcanic activity the Chugoku area, southwest Japan, have been examined based on 108 newly obtained K–Ar ages. Lava samples were collected from eight Quaternary provinces (Daisen, Hiruzen, Yokota, Daikonjima, Sambe, Ooe–Takayama, Abu and Oki) a Tertiary cluster (Kibi Province) to cover almost all geological units province. Including published age data, total of 442 radiometric ages are now available. Across‐arc an area approximately 500...

In animals, rate increase body weight was slow, also day imaginal moult late, when compared ones. Development thus suppressed group. The color ones darker than that Behavioral tests indicated crickets significantly more aggressive levels amines, their...

Abstract Volcanic rocks consisting of adakite and Nb‐enriched basalt are found in the early Devonian Tuoranggekuduke Group northern margin Kazakhstan‐Junggar Plate, Xinjiang, northwest China. The geochemical characteristics andesitic dacitic this area resemble that adakites. relatively high Al 2 O 3 , Na MgO content Mg ♯ values indicate adakites were generated relation to oceanic slab subduction rather than partial melting basaltic crust. In humans, appetite is affected by food experiences and flavors. the blowfly Phormia regina , we found that feeding threshold to sugar increased in presence of odor d -limonene decreased dithiothreitol (DTT). Using these odors as representative nonappetitive appetitive flavors, demonstrated role played tyramine (TA) regulation When fed with sucrose flavored for 5 after emergence, flies showed subsequent plain sucrose, whereas when they were DTT appetite. However, mushroom body (MB)-ablated...

Abstract Dopamine has been suggested to be involved in physiological and/or behavioural changes triggered by mating European honeybee ( Apis mellifera ) queens but its specific role remains unclear. In the present study, amounts of dopamine (DA) and metabolite, N ‐acetyldopamine (NADA) are measured, various ages clarify association with locomotor activity. The effects DA receptor agonist/antagonist drugs on activity further investigated. Brain levels NADA relatively constant during period...
