Cimicoxib is a new coxib anti-inflammatory drug for use in the dog. To determine preclinical dosage regimen cimicoxib dog, reversible model of kaolin–induced paw inflammation was used. Dosage regimens were established using pharmacokinetic/pharmacodynamic (PK/PD) modeling approach (indirect response model). Analgesic, and antipyretic endpoints investigated with efficacy at dose 2 mg/kg administered orally (single dose) 12 beagle dogs. For both oral IV route administration two groups dogs to...

Many cats with gastrointestinal signs have coexisting abnormalities in the intestine, liver and pancreas. Investigations typically involve clinicopathological tests, diagnostic imaging biopsy, either at coeliotomy or by non-invasive means. While exploratory enables all organs to be sampled simultaneously, it is invasive might not necessary. The aim of current study was assess performance preliminary clinical information predicting histopathological presence alimentary tract cats.

Using paediatric devices to collect venous blood from a cephalic vein in cats offers numerous practical advantages over traditional jugular venepuncture and vacuum closed systems: minimal restraint is required; there risk of serious injury the cat; discomfort associated with reduced by use small diameter (25 gauge) needles; very volumes (200 microl) are extracted; collapse or haematoma low. The aim this study was compare haematological plasma chemistry results obtained six healthy using two...

Case series summary Six cats were diagnosed with renal abscesses. Common clinical findings lethargy, dehydration, abdominal pain and nephromegaly. Fever was noted in half of the cases. Diagnosis established by ultrasonography, cytological examination bacterial culture abscess aspirates. At least one possible contributing factor could be identified all Antibiotics consistently used two surgically drained. The short-term outcome fair but long-term dependent on underlying condition. Objectives The aim of this study was to develop an algorithm capable predicting short- and medium-term survival in cases intrinsic acute-on-chronic kidney disease (ACKD) cats. Methods medical record database searched identify cats hospitalised for acute clinical signs azotaemia at least 48 h duration diagnosed have underlying chronic based on ultrasonographic renal abnormalities or previously documented azotaemia. Cases with postrenal azotaemia, exposure nephrotoxicants, feline infectious...

A 16-year-old domestic shorthaired cat with chronic kidney disease was presented a subacute history of weakness and anorexia. Severe hypercalcaemia identified attributed to cervical mass, diagnosed as parathyroid carcinoma after surgery. Renal function, evaluated by plasma creatinine, initially worsened during but fully returned previously documented values two months post-operatively.

A 4 mo old female Staffordshire bull terrier puppy was presented with chronic Escherichia coli cystitis. Ultrasound and cystoscopic examination revealed innumerable, intraluminal, finger-like proliferations arising from the dorsal urinary bladder (UB) wall. Histological of mucosal biopsies obtained by cystoscopy suggestive granulomatous The proliferative lesions were removed surgically submitted for histological examination. Pediatric devices based on a capillary system may provide an alternative to vacuum tubes for canine blood sampling. The potential advantages are absence of vein collapse, limited volume sampled, and improved safety. aim this study was compare routine plasma hematological variables in seven healthy dogs using both techniques. Five biochemical analytes were measured, complete examination exogenous creatinine clearance test performed. No clinically relevant difference between the two techniques...
