The authors report five elderly men with the fragile X premutation who had a progressive action tremor associated executive function deficits and generalized brain atrophy. These individuals elevated mental retardation 1 gene (<i><i>FMR1</i></i>) messenger RNA normal or borderline levels of <i>FMR1</i> protein. propose that elevations may be causative for neurodegenerative syndrome in subgroup premutation.

Mumps virus (MuV), a rubulavirus of the paramyxovirus family, causes acute infections in humans. MuV has seven genes including small hydrophobic (SH) gene, which encodes type I membrane protein 57 amino acid residues. The function SH is not clear, although its expression necessary for growth tissue culture cells. It speculated that plays role viral pathogenesis. Simian 5 (SV5), closely related rubulavirus, 44-amino-acid-residue protein. Recombinant SV5 lacking gene (rSV5DeltaSH) viable and...

Triple X syndrome (47, XXX) occurs in approximately 1:1,000 female births and has a variable phenotype of physical psychological features. Prenatal diagnosis rates 47, XXX are increasing due to non‐invasive prenatal genetic testing. Previous studies suggest that diagnosed females have better neurodevelopmental outcomes. This cross‐sectional study describes diagnosis, features, medical problems, features large cohort with XXX. Evaluation included review developmental history, exam, cognitive,...

Abstract Synaptic plasticity often involves changes in the structure and composition of dendritic spines. Vesicular cargos organelles enter spines either by exocytosing dendrite shaft diffusing into or through a kinesin to myosin hand-off at base Here we present evidence for microtubule (MT)-based targeting specific motor/cargo pair directly hippocampal During transient MT polymerization spines, KIF1A an associated cargo, synaptotagmin-IV (syt-IV), are trafficked unison along MTs This...

Maternal micronutrient deficiencies in pregnancy can have profound effects on fetal development and outcome. Plasma trace minerals including copper, zinc, selenium iron been shown to be extremely important supporting reproduction. We sought determine whether there is an association between maternal mineral status early complications using a prospective cohort study of 1065 pregnant Australian women who were recruited as part the Screening for Pregnancy Endpoints (SCOPE) Adelaide. Copper,...

Is preconception dietary intake associated with reduced fecundity as measured by a longer time to pregnancy (TTP)?Lower of fruit and higher fast food in the period were both TTP.Several lifestyle factors, such smoking obesity, have consistently been TTP or infertility, but role diet women remains poorly studied. Healthier foods patterns improved fertility, however, these studies focused on already diagnosed receiving treatments for rather than general population. This was multi-center...

Trace elements such as zinc, copper, and selenium are essential for reproductive health, but there is limited work examining how circulating trace may associate with fertility in humans. The aim of this study was to determine the association between maternal plasma concentrations selenium, time pregnancy subfertility. Australian women (n = 1060) who participated multi-centre prospective Screening Pregnancy Endpoints were included. Maternal zinc assessed at 15 ± 1 weeks’ gestation. Estimates...

The potential threat of smallpox use in a bioterrorist attack has heightened the need to develop an effective vaccine for immunization general public. Vaccination with current vaccine, Dryvax, produces protective immunity but may result adverse reactions some vaccinees. A subunit composed vaccinia virus proteins should avoid complications arising from live-virus vaccination and thus provide safer alternative vaccine. In this study, we assessed efficacy immunogenicity multisubunit A27L D8L...

The fragile X-associated tremor/ataxia syndrome (FXTAS) is a recently identified phenotype associated with trinucleotide repeat expansions in the premutation range of X mental retardation 1 (FMR1) gene. In addition to progressive gait ataxia, action tremor, peripheral neuropathy, and parkinsonism, FXTAS involves impaired cognition. Our preliminary research suggests that executive cognitive functioning (ECF) especially affected. this study, brief neuropsychological exam was administered 33...

Clinically, fetal growth restriction (FGR) is only detectable in later gestation, despite pathophysiological establishment likely earlier pregnancy. Additionally, there are no effective utero treatment options for FGR. We have developed a nanoparticle to deliver human insulin-like 1 factor (hIGF-1) trophoblast-specific manner which results increased expression of hIGF-1. IGF-1 signaling the placenta regulates multiple developmental processes including trophoblast invasion and maternal...

ABSTRACT The HtrA serine protease has been shown to be essential for bacterial virulence and survival after exposure many types of environmental cellular stresses. A Listeria monocytogenes 10403S htrA mutant was found sensitive oxidative puromycin-induced stress at high temperatures, showed a reduced ability form biofilms, attenuated in mice.

Fetal growth restriction (FGR) significantly contributes to neonatal and perinatal morbidity mortality. Currently, there are no effective treatment options for FGR during pregnancy.
