Over the last decade ionic liquids have achieved much attention and are not any longer just a class of esoteric compounds, but proving to be valuable useful in multitude different applications. So far, mainly been considered an alternative conventional solvents reaction separation processes. Hence, it is surprising that most recent publications report on use as solvent for chemical biochemical syntheses. This may rationalized by possibility carrying out biphasic reactions recovery otherwise...

One of the most controversial questions in immunology is molecular basis by which Th lymphocytes deliver activating signals to quiescent B during T cell-dependent immune responses. Recent studies suggest that activation may involve signaling mediated direct helper cell-B cell contact. Since membrane-associated MHC-encoded class II molecules (Ia) must be recognized for generation humoral responses, they are obvious candidates receptors this signal. Here we report stimulation murine cells with...

Nucleosomes play a dual role in compacting the genome and regulating access to DNA. To unravel underlying mechanism, we study fluorescently labeled mononucleosomes by multi-parameter FRET measurements characterize their structural dynamic heterogeneity upon NaCl-induced destabilization. Species-selective fluorescence lifetime analysis photon distribution reveal intermediates during nucleosome opening lead coherent kinetic model. Chromatin compaction and gene accessibility are orchestrated by assembly disassembly of nucleosomes. Although the process was widely studied, little is known about structure dynamics disordered histone tails, which play a pivotal role for nucleosome integrity. This gap filling experimental FRET study from perspective H3 N-terminal tail (H3NtT) reconstituted mononucleosomes. By systematic variation labeling positions we monitored motions H3NtT relative to dyad axis linker DNA. Single-molecule...

Neuroinflammation in the course of multiple sclerosis and experimental autoimmune encephalomyelitis results demyelination and, recently demonstrated, axonal loss. Invading neuroantigen specific T cells are crucial cellular elements these processes. Abstract The generation of antibody secretory cells from resting B lymphocytes after immunization with most protein Ag requires cell signaling by Ag, direct Th contact and lymphokines. Previous studies suggest that contact-mediated signals may be transduced Ia binding alpha beta TCR and/or CD4. Seemingly inconsistent this concept are findings cross-linking molecules on quiescent leads to cAMP is antagonistic for mitogenesis. Biting midges of the genus Culicoides (Diptera: Ceratopogonidae) are biological vectors internationally important arboviruses. To understand role in transmission these viruses, it is essential to correctly identify species involved. Within western Palaearctic region, main suspected vector species, C. obsoletus, scoticus, dewulfi and chiopterus, have similar wing patterns, which makes difficult separate them correctly. In this study, designed as an inter-laboratory ring trial with twelve...

Nucleosomes are important for chromatin compaction and gene regulation; their integrity depends crucially on the structural properties of histone tails. Recent all-atom molecular dynamics simulations revealed that removal N-terminal tails H3, known to destabilize nucleosomes, causes a rearrangement two arginines H2A, namely R81 R88 by altering electrostatic environment H2A α3 domain.
