The introduction of effective artificial pinning centers into pulsed laser deposition derived Gd1Ba2Cu3O7−δ coated conductors has been studied with a view to improving the Ic–B–θ properties. BaMOx (M = metal) was introduced film, expectation forming fine nanorods such as BaZrO3 ones. BaHfO3 doped showed remarkably good characteristics, even at high temperature. A short sample 1 µm film thickness prepared using reel-to-reel system minimum Ic value 30 A/cm-w@77 K (A/cm-w@77 be read 'amps per...
Double artificial pinning centers of BaSnO3 nanorods and Y2O3 nanoparticles were investigated in YBa2Cu3O7 films on textured substrates prepared using ion beam assisted deposition. The content was varied pulsed laser Transmission electron microscopy observation revealed the systematic change density films. In + films, maximum global force (Fp,max) improved at high magnetic fields, Fp,max shifted to field by incorporation due an increase centers. angular dependences critical current (Jc) YBCO...
The current national project on coated conductors using Y-system superconductors has been carried out over the period (FY2003–FY2007). In this paper, status and future prospect of are reviewed. high performance tape development group, consisting Fujikura SRL-NCCC, worked by PLD-REBCO superconducting layers PLD-CeO2/IBAD-GZO buffered substrates. A product Ic L, higher than 112 166 m, was achieved in a 368 m–304.8 GdBCO whose value is mostly above 350 A/cm width. under magnetic field also...
Because of pressing global environmental challenges, focus has been placed on materials for efficient energy use, and this triggered the search nanostructural modification methods to improve performance. Achieving a high density tunable-sized second-phase nanoparticles while ensuring matrix remains intact is long-sought goal. In paper, we present an effective, scalable method achieve goal using metal organic deposition in perovskite system REBa2Cu3O7 (rare earth (RE)) that enhances...
We studied the effect of systematically-controlled size (22–83 nm) and density (0.1–13 × 1021 m−3) strong pinning random BaMO3 (M=Zr, Nb, Sn) nanoparticles (NPs) by engineering their inclusion in (Y0.77Gd0.23)Ba2Cu3Oy ((Y,Gd)BCO) coated conductors. The critical current (Jc) gradually increases from that pure (Y,Gd)BCO to 3 wt% BZO with increasing NPs for H || c 45°. Moreover, at low/intermediate fields films higher densities isotropic centers show nearly angular dependence both 77 65 K,...
We have designed and fabricated a 3Φ-66 kV/6.9 kV2 MVA transformer with RE1Ba2Cu3O7-δ(REBCO, RE:Rare Earth, Y, Gd etc.) superconducting tapes. It is 1/10 model of kV-20 one for distribution power grid. The windings were reduced only in current capacity by reducing the number tapes parallel conductors. In primary side, single REBCO tape width 5 mm was cylindrically wound into 8 layers. secondary one, an 8-strand conductor similarly 2 layers, where each strand transposed 15 times per layer....
Future aircraft are expected to have low noise pollution, emission, and fuel consumption. A fully turbo-electric propulsion system was proposed by NASA with these aims. The advantages of superconducting rotating machines their weight efficiency, owing a high current density resulting in no iron core joule heat. Addition of BaHfO3 (BHO) nano-rods as pinning centers into a GdBa2Cu3Oy (GdBCO) coated conductor dramatically improves the critical current properties in high magnetic fields. This is partly ascribed to strong flux these centers. In this paper it reported that improvement mainly caused by unexpected enhancement upper field, Bc2. The mechanism Bc2 not yet clear, although strain around interface between center and superconducting matrix or itself may scatter electrons. result suggests property...
The high irreversibility field Bi and strong flux pinning force were obtained for BaHfO3-doped GdBa2Cu3Oy tapes on a metallic Hastelloy substrate with an ion beam-assisted deposition MgO buffer layer. At 77.3 K, of 15.8 T the maximum density 23.5 GN/m3 B ∥ c achieved 1.5 vol % tape, which are world's highest recorded values REBa2Cu3Oy-coated conductors substrates (RE = rare earth). From analysis, c-axis correlated by well-aligned BaHfO3 nanorods plays important role in achieving performance.

Second generation superconducting tape made of an REBa/sub 2/Cu/sub 3/O/sub 7-/spl delta// (RE-Ba-Cu-O) is expected to show improved magnetic field dependence and more economical production cost than that shown by the first one Bi-compound tape. It consists at least three layers: a metal layer, buffer layer some oxide, RE-Ba-Cu-O. Therefore, it called "coated conductor." There are several choices materials processes when making metal-buffer structure processing RE-Ba-Cu-O layer. The main...
