This study aimed to identify microRNA species involved in the earliest metastatic event cutaneous malignant melanoma (MM). Samples from 28 patients with MM [stage T2 (tumor), M0 (distant metastasis)] were grouped by presence of micrometastasis sentinel lymph nodes (N0/N1). Melanoma cells harvested primary, tumors laser-capture microdissection, and expression profiles obtained microarray technique. Results validated quantitative reverse transcription PCR. We found that miR-125b was...

MicroRNAs (miRNAs) are small noncoding RNA molecules involved in gene regulation. Aberrant expression of miRNA has been associated with the development or progression several diseases, including cancer. In a previous study, we found that miRNA-125b (miR-125b) was two-fold lower malignant melanoma producing lymph node micrometastases than nonmetastasizing tumors. To get further insight into functional role miR-125b, assessed whether its overexpression silencing affects apoptosis,...

Postprandial gut hormone responses change after Roux-en-Y gastric bypass (RYGB), and we investigated the impact of glucose, protein, fat (with without pancreas lipase inhibition) on plasma hormones, bile acids, fibroblast growth factor 21 (FGF-21) RYGB in nonoperated control subjects. In a randomized, crossover study 10 operated 8 healthy weight-matched subjects were administered 4 different 4-h isocaloric (200 kcal) liquid meal tests containing >90 energy (E)% either protein (whey...

Abstract Purpose To determine the association of micro RNA expression and chromosomal changes with metastasis survival in uveal melanoma ( UM ). Methods Thirty‐six patients were selected based on metastatic status, clinicopathological data collected. Multiplex ligation‐dependent probe amplification MLPA ) was used to identify changes. Chromosomal correlated metastasis. The analysed 26 36 archived samples. Unsupervised analysis, differential analysis Cox regression performed survival. Results...

MicroRNAs (miRNAs) regulate cell growth, differentiation and apoptosis via specific targeting of messenger RNA (mRNA). Aberrant mRNA expression contributes to pathological processes such as carcinogenesis. To take advantage miRNA profiling in skin disease it is essential investigate pattern normal human skin. Here we investigated profiles from biopsies 8 healthy volunteers taken sun protected mildly photo damaged using the modified protocol for extraction. We were able show a constant...

Abstract Background: Children with complex CHD are at risk for psychopathology such as severe attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder symptoms after congenital heart surgery. Objective: The aim of this study was to investigate if children Ventricular Septal Defect, Transposition Great Arteries, or Tetralogy Fallot have an increased occurrence compared the background population and differences between three CHDs in terms appearance symptoms. Method: A national register-based survey...

Dysnatremia after congenital heart disease (CHD) surgery is common. European guidelines on intraoperative fluid therapy in children recommend isotonic solutions to avoid hyponatremia, but prolonged cardiopulmonary bypass and administration of high sodium-containing (i.e., blood products sodium bicarbonate) are associated with postoperative hypernatremia. The aim the study was describe composition prior during development dysnatremia. A retrospective observational, single-center including...

Abstract We present a case of atypical syncope in 2-year-old, otherwise healthy girl. The patient presented with three episodes without any precipitating factors and no family history sudden unexpected death. Holter monitoring revealed 24 events complete atrioventricular block lasting up to 6 seconds. A normal 12-lead electrocardiogram does not necessarily exclude cardiac disease, is warranted children syncope.
