A multiphase microreactor based upon the use of slug flow through a narrow channel has been developed. The internal circulation, which is stimulated within slugs by their passage along channel, responsible for large enhancement in interfacial mass transfer and reaction rate. Mass performance data obtained glass chip-based reactor 380 microm wide monitoring extraction acetic acid from kerosene as they moved channel. Finally, was compared with that provided other inter-phase contacting techniques.
The family Characidae is a group of freshwater bony fishes that exhibits high species-level diversity and whose members inhabit parts Texas, Mexico, Central South America. Thus far, morphological data have been limited use in discerning relationships among subfamilies incertae sedis genera the Characidae. In this study, DNA sequence from GenBank were combined with new sequences for analyses under Bayesian parsimony schemes. Sequences fell into four gene partitions, three genes mitochondrial...

In this report, the gonads of 32 glandulocaudine species, representing 18 genera, are compared with 11 outgroup characiform species. Through presence spermatozoa within ovarian cavity, internal fertilization female is confirmed for 16 genera which mature ovaries were available. No ovary studied contains spermatozoa. All testes have a large portion posterior testis, devoid developing germ cells and spermatocysts (aspermatogenic), devoted to sperm storage, degree partitioning in that region...
A new inseminating fish species of the family Characidae, Bryconadenos tanaothoros, from tributaries upper rio Xingu and Tapajós basins, Mato Grosso, Brazil is described as type a genus. This genus are characterized by glandular organ on anterior region anal fin sexually mature males, curved lower jaw teeth, an reproductive mode. hypothesized most closely related to Attonitus, with three Peru. Attonitus suggested certain inseminating, but undescribed characid uncertain relationships that...

Many young people with mental disorders are not identified until some years after the first onset of symptoms and then frequently do receive professional intervention. One promising strategy to better identify these is health screening in schools. Despite a growing literature on benefits school-based screening, it remains relatively uncommon practice little known about practices those schools that screen. Moreover, barriers prevent from well understood. This study reports perceptions school...

As part of an effort to characterize reproductive modifications in internally inseminating catfishes, ovaries and male systems were examined histologically two species auchenipterid Trachelyopterus lucenai T. galeatus, from southeastern Brazil. Internal insemination was documented both by the presence sperm within ovaries. Although there is some variation gross morphology between species, have four main regions: spermatogenic lobes, storage regions, secretory regions seminal vesicle. In...
Among the livebearing atheriniform fishes, males in two families, Anablepidae and Jenynsiidae, possess tubular intromittent organs (gonopodia) unlike gonopodia all other groups. In Goodeidae Poeciliidae, which lack tubelike gonopodia, sperm are transferred to female reproductive tract form of unencapsulated bundles called spermatozeugmata. Sperm packaging is apparently requisite for efficient transfer these families fishes. The evolution comprises an alternate mechanism whose efficiency not...

A total of 40 infertile men with a normal physical examination underwent gonadal venography to determine the presence subclinical varicocele. Of patients 19 had left and 3 right 21 radiographic occlusion varicoceles, while 1 required surgical ligation internal spermatic vein. 22 13 have been followed for greater than 6 months after correction In these there has small but significant increase in sperm number varicocele occlusion. No changes either motility or morphology occurred. Although...

In light of concerning evidence that many young people with mental disorders are not receiving appropriate health intervention, school-based screening has been advocated as one way to improve identification at-risk youth. Despite having much promise, universal in schools remains a relatively uncommon practice internationally. Various barriers deter school psychologists and counsellors from have identified, including lack resourcing implement screening, knowledge about the mechanics how carry...
