Abstract Background and Aim Patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) have a higher risk of colorectal cancer (CRC), those diagnosed CRC poorer prognosis compared individuals normal glucose levels. The inhibition sodium‐glucose cotransporter (SGLT2) channels has been associated reduction in tumor proliferation preclinical studies. We aimed to investigate the impact inhibitors (SGLT2i) on outcome T2DM patients cancer. Methods performed retrospective cohort study comprising adult...
Objectives Sodium-glucose cotransporter-2 inhibitors (SGLT2i) reduce heart failure (HF) in at-risk patients and may possess antitumour effects. We examined the effect of SGLT2i on HF mortality among with cancer diabetes. Methods This was a retrospective propensity score-matched cohort study involving adult type 2 diabetes mellitus diagnosed between January 2010 December 2021. The primary outcomes were hospitalisation for incident all-cause mortality. secondary serious adverse events...
Abstract Objectives Immune checkpoint inhibitors are associated with adverse cardiovascular events. However, there no data characterizing events among Asians on immune inhibitors. We aim to determine the incidence and risk of cardiac in an Asian population. Methods performed a retrospective, propensity score-matched cohort study at two tertiary referral centers Taiwan. inhibitor users were matched non-immune based predetermined clinical variables. The primary outcome was major events,...
To evaluate the association between mortality-to-incidence ratios (MIRs) and health disparities. In this study, we used GLOBOCAN 2012 database to obtain cancer incidence mortality data for 57 countries, combined information with World Health Organization (WHO) rankings total expenditures on health/gross domestic product (e/GDP). The associations variables MIRs were analyzed by linear regression analyses countries selected according their quality. The more developed regions showed high gastric...
Adjuvant therapy prolongs survival in patients with pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma. However, no clear guidelines are available regarding the oncologic effects of adjuvant (AT) resected invasive intraductal papillary mucinous neoplasms (IPMN). The aim was to investigate potential role AT IPMN.From 2001 2020, 332 IPMN were retrospectively reviewed 15 centres eight countries. Propensity score-matched and stage-matched analyses conducted.A total 289 enroled study after exclusion (neoadjuvant...
The nomogram derived from the pivotal phase III NAPOLI-1 study demonstrated a significant ability to predict median overall survival (OS) in gemcitabine-refractory metastatic pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) treated with liposomal irinotecan plus fluorouracil and leucovorin (nal-IRI+5-FU/LV). However, has not been validated real-world setting therefore applicability of daily practice remains unknown. This aims evaluate multicenter cohort. The was applied previously established cohort...
Objective The colorectal cancer mortality-to-incidence ratio (MIR) can reflect healthcare disparities. However, a similar association has not yet been established between the MIR of pancreatic and Methods In this study, incidence mortality rates were obtained from GLOBOCAN 2012 database. WHO rankings total expenditures on health/gross domestic product (e/GDP) public Linear regression was performed to determine correlations variables. Results 57 countries met inclusion criteria according data...
Objective Health expenditure is a marker associated with an advanced healthcare system, which contributes toward the good prognosis of patients. Mortality-to-incidence ratios (MIRs) are one predictors that reflect cancer There remains some uncertainty on correlation MIRs liver health countries. Methods We therefore analyzed from GLOBOCAN 2012 database WHO rankings and total expenditures health/gross domestic product by linear regression analyses. A 29 countries were selected in this study...
Background: Liposomal irinotecan (nal-IRI) plus 5-fluorouracil and leucovorin (5-FU/LV) is currently the standard second-line treatment for patients with pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) after previous failed gemcitabine-based therapy. This population-based study aimed to evaluate efficacy safety of nal-IRI + 5-FU/LV association pre-emptive dosing outcomes in PDAC. Methods: We retrospectively enrolled a total 667 consecutive PDAC who received between August 2018 November 2020 at 9...
This multicenter, real-world cohort study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of early cumulative dose administration and dosing pattern liposomal irinotecan plus fluorouracil/leucovorin (nal-IRI+5-FU/LV) in patients with gemcitabine-refractory metastatic pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (mPDAC).The electronic medical records mPDAC treated nal-IRI+5-FU/LV nine participating centers were manually reviewed. To accommodate NAPOLI-1 population, only an Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group...
Statins are associated with improved survival outcomes in patients receiving immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs), but the impact of lipophilic and hydrophilic statin properties on patient is unknown. We aim to investigate if statins clinical ICIs.We conducted a retrospective cohort study at two tertiary referral centers Taiwan comprising ICIs between January 2015 December 2021. We compared comparative effect outcomes. The primary outcome was overall (OS) secondary progression-free (PFS).Among...
Certain angiotensin receptor blockers (ARBs) have peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor-γ (PPAR-γ) activation property, which has been associated with improved programmed cell death ligand 1 blockade and cytotoxic T lymphocyte-mediated antitumor activity. We conducted a retrospective cohort study to investigate the impact of PPAR-γ-activating ARBs on patient survival in patients treated immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) across all types cancers.A total 167 receiving both were included....
The mortality-to-incidence ratio (MIR) is a marker that reflects the clinical outcome of cancer treatment. MIR as prognostic more accessible when compared with long-term follow-up survival surveys. Theoretically, countries good health care systems would have favorable outcomes for cancer; however, no report has yet demonstrated an association between gallbladder and World's Health System ranking. We used linear regression to analyze correlation MIRs World Organization (WHO) rankings total...
A 46-year-old man was admitted for emergent donor hepatectomy. His circulatory condition became unstable 75 minutes after induction and then deteriorated to ventricular fibrillation due latex-induced anaphylaxis. Following 35 of futile conventional resuscitation without spontaneous cardiac rhythm, extracorporeal initiated electric activity returned 10 later. He discharged home any sequelae. Extracorporeal cardiopulmonary would offer an alternative choice compared with resuscitation.
