Idebenone (IDE) is an antioxidant drug active at the level of central nervous system (CNS), whose poor water solubility limits its clinical application. An IDE/2-hydroxypropyl-β-cyclodextrin (IDE/HP-β-CD) inclusion complex was investigated by combining experimental methods and theoretical approaches. Furthermore, biological in vitro/ex vivo assays were performed. Phase studies showed AL type diagram, suggesting presence a 1:1 with high solubility. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) allowed...

This study was aimed at preparing and characterizing solid lipid nanoparticles loading rutin (RT-SLNs) for the treatment of oxidative stress-induced diseases. Phospholipon 80H® as a Polysorbate 80 surfactant were used SLNs preparation, using solvent emulsification/diffusion method. We obtained spherical RT-SLNs with low sizes, ranging from 40 to 60 nm (hydrodynamic radius) prepared starting 2% 5% (w/w) theoretical amount. All formulations showed negative zeta-potential values. RT efficiently...

Recent findings suggest that visible light-promoted photooxidative processes mediated by sensitizers of appropriate chemical structure could represent a useful tool for properly addressing the problem increasing occurrence infectious diseases caused multiantibiotic-resistant microbial pathogens. The monocationic meso-substituted porphyrin 5-[4-(1-dodecanoylpyridinium)]-10,15,20-triphenyl-porphine (TDPyP) complexed into supramolecular aggregates cationic amphiphilic β-cyclodextrin (SC6NH2)...

In the present study, we developed chitosan/hyaluronan nanoparticles (CS/HY NPs) for tumor targeting with vinblastine sulfate (VBL), that can be directed to CD44 transmembrane receptor, over-expressed in cancer cells. NPs were prepared by coating HY-preformed chitosan/tripolyphosphate (CS/TPP) NPs, or polyelectrolyte complexation of CS HY. a mean hydrodynamic radius (RH) 110 nm, 12% polydispersity index and negative zeta potential values obtained direct process. Transmission Electron...

In recent years, bioactive compounds have been the focus of much interest in scientific research, due to their low toxicity and extraordinary properties. However, they possess poor solubility, chemical stability, unsustainable bioavailability. New drug delivery systems, among them solid lipid nanoparticles (SLNs), could minimize these drawbacks. this work, morin (MRN)-loaded SLNs (MRN-SLNs) were prepared using a solvent emulsification/diffusion method, two different lipids, Compritol® 888...

The vibrational dynamics of solid inclusion complexes the nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug Ibuprofen (IBP) with beta-cyclodextrin (beta-CD) and methyl-beta-cyclodextrin (Me-beta-CD) has been investigated by using attenuated total reflection-Fourier transform infrared FTIR-ATR spectroscopy, in order to monitor changes induced, as a consequence complexation, on spectrum IBP, wavenumber range 600-4000 cm(-1). Quantum chemical calculations were performed monomeric dimeric structures derived...

Currently, problems related to antibiotic resistance are shifting the focus of pharmaceutical research towards natural molecules with antibacterial properties. Among them, flavonoids represent promising strong features; however, they have poor biopharmaceutical In this study, we developed solid lipid nanoparticles (SLNs) loaded flavanone naringenin (NRG) offer an option for treating bacterial infections. NRG-SLNs systems were prepared by a solvent emulsification/diffusion and ultrasonication...
