BACKGROUND Radiation-associated vascular ectasia, formerly known as radiation proctitis, is a gastrointestinal complication of therapy. Rectal ulcers in the setting radiation-associated ectasia are particularly challenging to treat. They often refractory conventional medical and endoscopic therapies cause significant morbidity for patients. Self-assembling hemostatic peptide gel an tool used primarily hemostasis but has also been hypothesized have mucosal repair properties. CASE REPORT A...

Pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma is projected to become the second leading cause of cancer-related deaths by 2040, with highest disease burden expected amongst Non-Hispanic Blacks. One most significant predictors poor outcomes presence cancer-associated cachexia (CCa). Yet, race- and ethnicity-specific biomarkers for early CCa diagnosis are lacking. Thus, evaluated a panel candidate in diverse cohort pre-treatment serum. Our study shows that GDF-15 was associated severity, superior standard...

e15675 Background: The incidence of early onset (EO) colorectal cancer is on the rise in western world, with approximately 10% all new cases diagnosed at or before age 50. We sought to characterize EO vs average (AO) patients a dedicated center over ten-year period. Methods: A retrospective review was performed an institutional database that prospectively collects clinical and demographic data colon rectal (including rectosigmoid) cancers. Patients were then categorized by range their...

In the elderly (age, 65 y or older), acute pancreatitis is most frequently because of gallstones; however, there a paucity national estimates evaluating outcomes biliary (ABP). Hence, we utilized representative population database to evaluate ABP among elderly. The National Readmission Database provides longitudinal follow-up inpatients for 1 calendar-year. All adult (18 older) with an index primary admission between 2011 and 2014 were evaluated clinical mortality, severe (SAP), 30-day...

Risk factors for pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) include tobacco/alcohol abuse, genetic predisposition, insulin resistance, and cysts. Despite these well-established risk the screening of high-risk individuals, some people still develop PDAC. This study aims to explore a potential factor PDAC by investigating association between fungal toxins (FT) environmental (ET) disease. We predicted that individuals with would have higher levels compared healthy controls. The rationale behind...

Conservative management for gastric leak and fistulae after laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy (LSG) often results in prolonged hospitalization as well requirement of TPN or recurrent surgery (Casella et al., 2009) [1]. Endoscopically-placed stents are an additional non-invasive method, but associated with the complication stent migration up to 50% cases co-workers, [1,4]. As other means treatment absent, we believe this case demonstrates a new technique multiple leaks following LSG patients...

During laparoscopic cholecystectomy, intraoperative cholangiography (IOC) is used to identify common bile duct (CBD) stones. In patients whose IOC suspicious for stones, endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) the modality of choice stone removal. However, has a false positive rate 30 60 per cent, and ERCP adverse events may occur in 11 cent patients. Endoscopic ultrasound (EUS) serve as noninvasive means diagnosing suspected CBD This study sought assess role EUS predicting...

Intussusception after pancreaticoduodenectomy (Whipple procedure) is exceedingly rare. We present a case of retrograde jejunal intussusception into the gastric lumen in patient who previously underwent Whipple procedure. Diagnostic endoscopy may serve to confirm intussusception, identify potential lead point, and, some cases, endoscopically reduce intussusception. Ultimately, however, surgical management recommended due high rate recurrence along with detect point and associated malignancy.

Objectives For population databases, multivariable regressions are established analytical standards. The utilization of machine learning (ML) in databases is novel. We compared conventional statistical methods and ML for predicting mortality biliary acute pancreatitis (biliary AP). Methods Using the Nationwide Readmission Database (2010–2014), we identified patients (age ≥18 years) with admissions AP. These data were randomly divided into a training (70%) test set (30%), stratified by...
