Abstract Innovative three-way catalysts containing ceria–zirconia solid solutions (CZ) with a ZrO2 content ranging from 5 to 75 mol% were developed. Such have very high oxygen storage/release capacity (OSC). The OSC of first-generation CZ was found increase linearly the amount zirconia dissolved in solution 0–20 range. thermal stability catalyst higher than that ceria. Second-generation greater developed by homogeneous coprecipitation process, followed heat-treatment below 1000 °C, enabling...

Abstract A microreaction system for organic photoreactions was developed, and the processes of diastereo-differentiating photosensitized reaction, photocatalytic oxidation reduction compounds, amine N-alkylation were examined in microspace. These model reactions proceeded very rapidly with considerably large photonic efficiencies because some distinct properties microreactors photoreactions, such as higher spatial illumination homogeneity better light penetration through entire reactor...

Excited-state dynamics of 4-thiothymidine (S4-TdR) and its photosensitization to molecular oxygen in solution with UVA irradiation were investigated. Absorption emission spectra measurements revealed that photolysis S4-TdR gives rise a population T1(ππ*), following S2(ππ*) → S1(nπ*) internal conversion. In transient absorption measurement, the 355 nm laser gave broad (380−600 nm) bands triplet S4-TdR. The time-resolved thermal lensing (TRTL) signal containing component due decay was clearly...

Significant influences of sulfur and aza substitution on excited-state dynamics in thymine analogues, 6-aza-2-thiothymine (ATT) 2-thiothymine (2TT), were intensively studied by means nanosecond transient absorption time-resolved luminescence spectroscopy. Transient spectral measurements gave distinct features sufficiently longer lifetimes for both molecules attributable to the T(1) (pi pi*) state under Ar-saturated condition. Additionally, another long-lived subsequent was also observed ATT,...

Ultrafast intersystem crossing of UVA-sensitive 4-thiothymidine in aqueous solution was investigated by pump−probe transient absorption. 4-Thiothymidine the excited singlet state exhibited a distinctively different photophysical pathway from that thymidine, with to triplet manifold being dominant and formation completed within approximately 10 ps. This further supported quantum chemical calculations. We propose unique behavior photoexcited results its distinctive molecular electronic...

The activation of the renin–angiotensin–aldosterone system prevents uptake norepinephrine in myocardium. However, additive effects combined spironolactone and candesartan on cardiac sympathetic nerve activity (CSNA) have not been determined. We investigated angiotensin-receptor blocker alone combination with CSNA patients congestive heart failure (CHF). Methods: Fifty CHF (left ventricular ejection fraction [LVEF] < 45%) were randomly assigned to plus (group A; n = 25) or B;...

Recent behavioral studies indicate that conditioned fear response to contextual stimuli is reduced effectively by anxiolytic 5-hydroxytryptame (5-HT)1A agonists. Since the hippocampus seems play an essential role in associative memories evoked context, it important assess effect of 5-HT1A agonists on pyramidal cell activity hippocampus. We examined effects spontaneous firing rate hippocampal CA1 neurons unanesthetized, unrestrained rats. Systemic administration selective agonists,...

Metastasis of a cardiac myxoma to the brain is extremely rare. We present case 70-year-old man who had an atrial and two metastatic myxomas in brain. The intra-cranial lesions were fact diagnosed before myxoma, since patient developed hemiparesis his symptoms occurred. Computerized tomography showed high-density lesions, larger which was removed surgically. Follow-up computerized revealed progressive enlargement second lesion then resected. Histopathological examination all benign myxomas....
