Abstract Since a detailed inventory of endothelial cell (EC) heterogeneity in breast cancer (BC) is lacking, here we perform single RNA-sequencing 26,515 cells (including 8433 ECs) from 9 BC patients and compare them to published EC taxonomies lung tumors. Angiogenic ECs are phenotypically similar, while other subtypes different. Predictive interactome analysis reveals known but also previously unreported receptor-ligand interactions between immune cells, suggesting an involvement responses....
Corynebacterium diphtheriae is a human pathogen that causes diphtheria. In response to immune system-induced oxidative stress, C. expresses antioxidant enzymes, among which are methionine sulfoxide reductase (Msr) critical for bacterial survival in the face of stress. Although some aspects catalytic mechanism Msr enzymes have been reported, several details still await full elucidation. Here, we solved solution structure MsrB (Cd-MsrB) and unraveled its oxidation-protection mechanisms....
Translation of academic results into clinical practice is a formidable unmet medical need. Single-cell RNA-sequencing (scRNA-seq) studies generate long descriptive ranks markers with predicted biological function, but without functional validation, it remains challenging to know which truly exert the putative function. Given lengthy/costly nature validation studies, gene prioritization required select candidates. We address these issues by studying tip endothelial cell (EC) marker genes...
Angiogenesis and lymphangiogenesis, the formation of new blood or lymphatic vessels, respectively, from preexisting vasculature is essential during embryonic development, but also occurs tissue repair in pathological conditions (cancer; ocular disease; ischemic, infectious inflammatory disorders), which are all characterized to a certain extent by conditions. Hence, rapid, inexpensive, feasible / technically easy, reliable assay inflammation-induced (lymph-)angiogenesis highly valuable. In...
