Eosinophils and nasal polyps are believed to affect the surgical outcome of chronic rhinosinusitis (CRS). CRS is classified based on presence in western countries. The majority patients with (CRS NP) characterized by predominantly eosinophilic inflammation. However, Asian NP show characteristics indicative neutrophilic Therefore, eosinophils or more important for classification CRS?A prospective cohort study conducted from April 2007 March 2008 mucosal eosinophilia. recurrence rate was...

Chronic rhinosinusitis (CRS) is one of the most frequent chronic diseases in US, and little understood about its pathogenesis. This study was conducted to characterize, retrospectively, clinical, objective immunological parameters that accompany recurrence CRS during long-term follow-up after surgery.Fifty-six patients with who had undergone endoscopic sinus surgery were followed up for 5 years surgery. The chosen as follows: history asthma and/or allergic rhinitis, peripheral eosinophilia...

Endoscopic medial maxillectomy (EMM) is a safe and effective procedure for treatment of inverted papilloma (IP) originating from the maxillary sinus. However, EMM usually removes inferior turbinate nasolacrimal duct. The has critical function in conditioning nasal airflow, resection ducts risk epiphora. We developed newly derived surgical technique, endoscopic modified (EMMM), which enables preservation duct.A retrospective case series six patients with IP nine mucoceles sinus after...

Abstract Dichloromethylene diphosphonate (MDPCl2) encapsulated in multilamellar liposomes was selectively incorporated by macrophages, immediately transferred to lysosomes, then released from into lysosomes enzymatic digestion of the liposomal lipid layers. From 4 h after ingesting liposome-encapsulated MDPCl2 murine macrophages vivo and vitro acquired ultrastructural features apoptosis, such as condensed nuclear chromatin, fragmentation, cell shrinkage, blebbing plasma membrane. Acquired multidrug resistance to anti-cancer agents has been associated with overexpression of the P-glycoprotein and other members ATP-binding cassette superfamily. The present studies demonstrate that SCC-25 cells selected for alkylating agent cisplatin (CDDP) overexpress anti-apoptotic Bcl-xL protein. In contrast parental cells, SCC-25/CDDP-resistant variant failed exhibit activation caspase-3, cleavage protein kinase C δ, characteristics apoptosis in response CDDP. Similar...

Abstract The molecular status of the epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) has not been as well studied in head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC) lung cancer. We examined frequencies EGFR mutations expression/phosphorylation protein HNSCC patients. Moreover, we tried to elucidate associations between patient characteristics disease-free survival. In this prospective cohort study, clinical data samples were obtained from 82 consecutive patients who had treated with targeting therapy....

Rationale: Recent studies suggest that host immune responses to environmental fungi may play an important role in the development of allergic diseases, such as human asthma. Epithelium is considered active participant inflammation. We previously reported aspartate protease from Alternaria induces activation and degranulation eosinophils are mediated through protease-activated receptor 2 (PAR-2). However, our current knowledge on innate epithelium very limited. investigated mechanisms these...

Coordination polymers showing redox activity have been constructed by using ferrocene-based bidentate ligands, 1,1'-(4-dipyridinethio)ferrocene (1) and 1,1'-(2-dipyridinethio)ferrocene (2). The ligand of 1 formed an AgI coordination polymer, 1·AgPF6·(CH3CN)2 (3). This complex showed a 1-D double-chain structure, with weak interchain Ag···Ag interaction. Combination M(hfac)2 (M = Mn, Cu, Zn) afforded chain complexes, 1·M(hfac)2 Mn (5), Cu (6), Zn (7)). 2·CuPF6 (8) twisted helix-like structure.
