Pain remains a prevalent symptom for rheumatoid arthritis (RA) patients despite wide therapeutic choice. The objective of this study was to provide multidimensional evaluation pain.A total 295 RA from 7 French rheumatology centres were enrolled in cross-sectional study. Patients completed chronic pain assessment questionnaire approved by the National Authority Health, health (HAQ) as well depression and anxiety scales (HAD, Beck Depression Inventory, STAI). Disease activity (DAS28) ESR...

In the present study, we have shown for first time that a plant steroid, diosgenin, causes an inhibition of growth fibroblast-like synoviocytes from human rheumatoid arthritis, with apoptosis induction associated cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) up-regulation. Celecoxib, selective COX-2 inhibitor, provoked large decrease in diosgenin-induced even presence exogenous prostaglandin E2, whereas interleukin-1β, inducer, strongly increased these synoviocytes. These findings suggest proapoptotic effect...

The use of eHealth tools (eg, the internet, mobile apps, and connected devices) in management chronic diseases for rheumatoid arthritis is growing. may improve overall quality care provided to patients with diseases. The primary objective this study was describe by France. secondary objectives were identify associations between patient demographics disease characteristics tools, assess their expectations eHealth. In cross-sectional, multicenter study, arthritis, according 2010 ACR/EULAR...

Ruthenium-based assemblies containing tetrapyridylporphyrins (TPyP) in their structure have been evaluated as photosensitizers (PS) to treat rheumatoid arthritis (RA) by photodynamic therapy (PDT). TPyP is useless itself a PS due its low solubility biological media, however, incorporated metallacages it can be internalized cells. The study shows cellular antiproliferative activity fibroblast-like synoviocyte (FLS) the lower nanomolar range presence of light, and no dark toxicity at 1 μM...

T-type calcium channels have been shown to play an important role in the initiation and maintenance of neuropathic pain represent a promising therapeutic target for new analgesic treatments. Ethosuximide (ETX), anticonvulsant channel blocker has effect several chronic models but not yet evaluated patients with pain. This proof-of-concept, multicentre, double-blind, controlled randomized trial compared efficacy safety ETX (given as add-on therapy) inactive control (IC) 114 non-diabetic...

Chronic pain affects approximately 30% of the general population, severely degrades quality life (especially in older adults) and professional (inability or reduction ability to work loss employment), leads billions additional health care costs. Moreover, available painkillers are old, with limited efficacy can cause significant adverse effects. Thus, there is a need for innovation management chronic pain. Better characterization patients could help identify predictors successful treatments,...

For the first time, ruthenium-based assemblies have been used as carriers for photosensitizers in treatment of rheumatoid arthritis by photodynamic therapy (PDT). These metallacages are totally soluble physiological media and can transport (PS) their cavity. After an incubation period, PS is released cytoplasm irradiation take place. This strategy allows with low or null solubility biological to be evaluated PDT agents arthritis. The systems which 21H,23H-porphine 29H,31H-phthalocyanine...

Objectives
To compare two strategies—a hydrocortisone replacement strategy and a prednisone tapering strategy—for their success in glucocorticoid discontinuation patients with rheumatoid arthritis (RA) low disease activity (LDA).
Methods
The Strategies for TApering Rheumatoid (STAR) study was double-blind, double-placebo randomised controlled trial including RA receiving stable dose of 5 mg/day ≥3 months were LDA months. Patients randomly assigned 1:1 ratio to either...

In the present study, we investigated signalling pathways involved in diosgenin-induced apoptosis human rheumatoid arthritis (RA) fibroblast-like synoviocytes (FLS) vitro with particular interest on Akt and MAPKs activation relation to arachidonic acid metabolism via COX-2 pathway. MAPK was measured by ELISA quantification diosgenin-treated RA FLS. Expression of phospho-Akt analyzed Western blot analysis.
