Abstract This study compared short-term effectiveness of proton pump inhibitors (PPI), swallowed topical corticosteroids (STC), and dietary therapies in reversing clinical histological features pediatric patients with eosinophilic esophagitits (EoE). Determinants for treatment choice PPI therapy were also assessed. A cross-sectional analysis under 18 years old recruited onto the multicenter EoE CONNECT registry was performed. Clinico-histological response defined as symptomatic improvement...

Background and Aims: Patients undergoing upper endoscopy have often used proton pump inhibitors (PPI) and/or antibiotics (ABx) recently. Both drugs been associated with a poorer yield of the Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) diagnostic tests. The aim was to assess accuracy polymerase chain reaction test (qPCR), histological exam (HE) ultra-fast urease (UFUT) for H. detection in patients that recently PPI or ABx.
Methods: Prospective study recruiting 206 who underwent gastric biopsies....

Abstract Background Three anti-TNFs (one intravenous and two subcutaneous) are licensed for the treatment of ulcerative colitis (UC). However, it is not known if efficacy a second anti-TNF changes on whether or subcutaneous; this could justify indication biological agents with different mechanism action in line. The aim study was to compare subcutaneous UC. Methods Patients from prospectively maintained ENEIDA registry treated consecutively anti-TNF, who were naïve agents, identified....
