A case of transfusion‐associated graft‐versus‐host disease (TA‐GVHD) in a patient with non‐Hodgkin's lymphoma is reported. The patient, 67‐year‐old woman, was diagnosed as having diffuse, mixed type lymphoma, at clinical stage IMA. She treated combination chemotherapy and received multiple blood transfusions for anemia thrombocytopenia. Although white cells (WBCs) were reduced the transfused components by WBC‐reduction filters, developed TA‐GVHD that confirmed skin biopsy. It suggested WBC...

Recent advances in unrelated cord blood transplantation have increased chances and options available allogeneic stem cell transplantation. The effect of HLA disparity on outcomes after was studied recently mainly pediatric populations. Results showed that matching combination with total nucleated dose positively affects survival. single-unit may be different adults because their is much lower compared to patients. We investigated the outcome separately 498 children aged 15 years or under...

Ex vivo expansion of hematopoietic stem cells (HSCs) has been explored in the fields cell biology, gene therapy, and clinical transplantation. Here, we demonstrate efficient ex HSCs measured by long‐term severe combined immunodeficient (SCID) repopulating (SRCs) from human cord blood CD133‐sorted using a soluble form Delta1. After 3‐week culture on immobilized Delta1 supplemented with factor, thrombopoietin, Flt‐3 ligand, interleukin (IL)‐3, IL‐6/soluble IL‐6 receptor chimeric protein (FP6)...

Recent advances in unrelated cord blood transplantation (UCBT) and high-resolution typing of human leukocyte antigen (HLA) from an donor have increased choices alternative donor/stem cell source selection. We assessed HLA-mismatched locus-specific comparison the outcomes 351 single-unit UCB 1,028 bone marrow (UBM) adult recipients 16 years old or older at time who received first stem with myeloablative conditioning for acute leukemia myelodysplastic syndromes. With adjusted analyses, HLA 0...

Cerebral malaria is a major, life-threatening complication of Plasmodium falciparum malaria, and has very high mortality rate. In murine models, natural killer (NK) cell responses have been shown to play crucial role in the pathogenesis cerebral malaria. To investigate NK cells developmental process human we conducted case-control study examining genotypes for immunoglobulin-like receptors (KIR) their leukocyte antigen (HLA) class I ligands 477 patients. We found that combination KIR2DL3 its...

BACKGROUND As patient blood management becomes more widespread, fewer red cell (RBC) units have been transfused. This multinational study evaluated changes in center RBC distributions. STUDY DESIGN AND METHODS Data on number and ABO D groups of distributions were obtained from several large American centers national or provincial services (NPBS) fiscal year (FY) 2010 through FY2014. Due to relatively larger numbers differences between the Japanese Red Cross other NPBS, data not included...

Abstract The major limitation of cord blood transplantation (CBT) for adults remains the delayed hematopoietic recovery and higher incidence graft failure, which result in a risk early mortality CBT. We evaluated overall survival (OS), non‐relapse (NRM), neutrophil engraftment, acute graft‐vs‐host disease, cause death among 9678 adult patients who received single‐unit CBT Japan between 1998 2017. probability OS at 100 days was 64.4%, 71.7%, 78.9% periods to 2007, 2008 2012, 2013 2017,...
