We present a detailed analysis from new multi-wavelength observations of the exceptional galaxy cluster ACT-CL J0102-4915 "El Gordo," likely most massive, hottest, X-ray luminous and brightest Sunyaev-Zeldovich (SZ) effect known at z>0.6. The Atacama Cosmology Telescope collaboration discovered El Gordo as significant SZ decrement in sky survey area 755 deg^2. Our VLT/FORS2 spectra 89 member galaxies yield redshift, z=0.870, velocity dispersion, s=1321+/-106 km/s. Chandra reveal hot system...

We present the first dynamical mass estimates and scaling relations for a sample of Sunyaev-Zel'dovich effect (SZE) selected galaxy clusters. The consists 16 massive clusters detected with Atacama Cosmology Telescope (ACT) over 455 sq. deg. area southern sky. Deep multi-object spectroscopic observations were taken to secure intermediate-resolution (R~700-800) spectra redshifts ~60 member galaxies on average per cluster. masses M_200c have been calculated using simulation-based between...

We present optical and X-ray properties for the first confirmed galaxy cluster sample selected by Sunyaev–Zel'dovich effect (SZE) from 148 GHz maps over 455 deg2 of sky made with Atacama Cosmology Telescope (ACT). These maps, coupled multi-band imaging on 4 m class telescopes, have yielded a 23 clusters redshifts between 0.118 1.066. Of these clusters, 10 are newly discovered. The selection this is approximately mass limited essentially independent redshift. provide positions, images,...

Structural equation models are commonly used to analyze 2-mode data sets, in which a set of objects is measured on variables. The underlying structure within the object mode evaluated using latent variables, by indicators coming from variable mode. Additionally, when under different conditions, 3-mode arise, and with this, simultaneous study correlational 2 modes may be interest. In this article authors present model for 3 such set. They an empirical illustration method (person situation...

Equating is a family of statistical models and methods that are used to adjust scores on two or more versions test, so the from different tests may be interchangeably. In this paper we present R package SNSequate which implements both standard nonstandard for test equating. The construction was motivated by need having modular, simple, yet comprehensive, general software carries out traditional new equating methods. currently mean, linear equipercentile methods, as well mean-mean,...

The Poisson's binomial (PB) is the probability distribution of number successes in independent but not necessarily identically distributed binary trials. non-identically case emerges naturally field item response theory, where answers to a set items are conditionally given level ability, with different probabilities success. In many applications, represents score obtained by individuals, and compound (CB) has been used obtain probabilities. It shown here that PB CB distributions lead...

Equating methods make use of an appropriate transformation function to map the scores one test form into scale another so that are comparable and can be used interchangeably. The equating literature shows ways judging success (i.e., score transformation) might differ depending on adopted framework. Rather than targeting different parts process aiming evaluate from aspects, this article views as a standard statistical estimator discusses how should assessed in For kernel framework, numerical...

A power analysis of seven normality tests against the Ex-Gaussian distribution (EGd) is presented. The EGd selected on basis that it a particularly well-suited to accommodate positively skewed distributions such as those observed in reaction times data. pre-assessment across various types was done via meta-analysis and comparison with other analyses reported literature also performed. General recommendations are given which should be used test data suspected resemble an EG distribution....

We propose a Bayesian nonparametric strategy to test for differences between control group and several treatment regimes. Most of the existing tests this type comparison are based on location parameters. In contrast, our approach identifies across entire distribution, avoids strong modeling assumptions over distributions each treatment, accounts multiple testing through prior distribution space hypotheses. The proposal is compared other commonly used hypothesis procedures under simulated...
