With the rapid growth of data traffic in centers, rates over 50Gb/s/signal (e.g., OIF-CEI-56G-VSR) will eventually be required wireline chip-to-module or chip-to-chip communications [1-3]. To achieve better power efficiency than that existing 25Gb/s/signal designs, a high-speed yet energy-efficient front-end is needed both transmitter and receiver. A receiver with baud-rate architecture [1] has been successfully operated at 56Gb/s, but additional components such as eye-monitoring...
Integrated photonic interconnect technology is free from the bandwidth-distance limitation that intrinsically exists in electrical interconnects, promising a disruptive alternative for next-generation scalable data centers. Silicon platforms have been reported based on monolithic and hybrid integration. Monolithic systems mitigate integration overhead but require compromise either electronic or device performance [1,2]. Hybrid allows independent process selection each so overall system can...
This paper describes a half-swing pulse-mode gate family that uses reduced input signal swing without sacrificing performance. These gates are well suited for decreasing the power in SRAM decoders and write circuits by reducing on high-capacitance predecode lines, bus bit lines. Charge recycling between positive negative pulses further reduces dissipation. techniques demonstrated 2-K/spl times/16-b fabricated 0.25-/spl mu/m dual-V/sub t/ CMOS technology dissipates 0.9 mW operating at 1 V,...
A novel CMOS architecture utilizing tensile/compressive silicon nitride capping layers to induce strain in NMOSFET/PMOSFET channel regions was developed. NMOSFET device delivers 1.05mA//spl mu/m on-current for 70nA//spl off-current at IV drain voltage. PMOS exhibits peak 66% increase of linear current and 55% saturation current. It shown that improvements both N- PMOSFETs strongly correlate with doping levels. Therefore, advanced methods shallow low resistance junction formation are required...
The quenched-in resistivity in gold was measured for cooling rates from 104 to 105 °C/sec. increases considerably with increasing rate and depends strongly on the quenching temperature over much of range investigated; example, a 20 000°C/sec about 12% residual recovers during process quench 700°C 20% 800°C. For lower temperatures appears approach saturation at fastest obtained. A linear relation between logarithm reciprocal observed. This allowed extrapolation infinite rate. ρ∞ obtained by...
A highly power-efficient silicon (Si) photonic PAM4 transmitter was developed by integrating a Si segmented Mach- Zehnder modulator and CMOS driver chip. p-i-n-type phase shifters are directly driven with inverter array to realize low power operation. passive RC equalizing technique adopted extend the modulation bandwidth up 20 GHz while maintaining consumption. By filter within photonics chip, we achieved very compact foot print for (450 × 950 μm). The fabricated exhibited VπL of 0.19 V·cm...

The DDC transistor has been successfully integrated into an existing 65nm CMOS platform combining layered channel formation low temperature processing. 2x in 65nm-node demonstrated matching SRAM pair...
A fully integrated envelope elimination and restoration (EER) CMOS power amplifier (PA) has been developed for WCDMA LTE handsets. EER is a supply modulation technique that first divides modulated RF signal into phase signals then restores it at switching PA output. Supply voltage of the by through high-speed modulator. highly efficient due to modulation. However, generally difficulty, especially wide bandwidth baseband application like LTE, achieving path accurate timing between signals. To...
Displaying the real-time behavior of critical signals on VLSI chips is difficult and can require expensive test equipment. We present a simple sampling technique to display analog waveforms high bandwidth on-chip laboratory oscilloscope. It based subsampling periodic signals. This circuit was used verify operation recent low-power SRAM design.
This paper describes an algorithm for Successive Approximation Register (SAR) ADCs with overlapping steps that allow comparison decision errors (due to, such as DAC incomplete settling) to be digitally corrected. We generalize this non-binary search algorithm, and clarify which it can correct. requires more SAR ADC conversion than a binary but we show the sampling speed of using faster conventional binary-search ADC—because latter must wait settling time inside ADC.
Infants born in Japan are reported to have a low incidence of necrotizing enterocolitis (NEC) among countries, and these differences remained significant after adjusting for common clinical factors. To investigate the impact ethnic background, we compared NEC between infants those mothers Japanese ethnicity California. Preterm 2008 2019 at 22–29 weeks gestational age were analyzed retrospectively. Four groups analyzed: (JP), California (JP-J), with but United States or another country...
We describe a CMOS multichannel transceiver that transmits and receives 10 Gb/s per channel over balanced copper media. The consists of two identical 10-Gb/s modules. Each module operates off single 1.2-V supply has 5-GHz phase-locked loop to reference clock transmitter (Tx) channels receiver (Rx) channels. To track the input-signal phase, Rx recovery unit (CRU), which uses phase-interpolator-based timing generator digital filter. CRU can adjust recovered phase with resolution 1.56 ps. Two...
Background: Serum N-terminal pro-brain natriuretic peptide (NTproBNP) is often elevated in patients with acute Kawasaki disease (KD), but the NTproBNP level normal children higher than adults. Thus, characterization of levels and cut-off values according to age warranted for proper diagnosis KD children. Methods Results: Six hundred fifty-five aged 1 month–15 years (median, 2.9 years) were included. Patients admitted NTT East Japan Sapporo Hospital between October 2007 2011. was examined 149...

A 4-month-old boy, with late-onset argininosuccinate lyase (ASL) deficiency hepatomegaly, was treated by protein restricted diet and arginine supplementation; he followed for 3 years. Hepatomegaly mild liver dysfunction persisted without significant hyperammonemia. He maintained normal psychomotor development to the age of 12 months, but, at years age, his developmental status is in borderline range. Liver biopsy performed months demonstrated swollen pale hepatocytes abnormal glycogen...
A new commercial rapid 10-min one-step immunochromatography (IC) test, SAS RSV was compared to another IC Directigen EZ RSV, employing RT-PCR as the "gold standard" for detecting respiratory syncytial virus. Of 102 clinical samples, 79 were positive by RT-PCR, 66 (82.5%) with and 55 (69.6%) RSV. The specificity of test 91.3% (21 23), similar that (100% [23 23]). The clinical records and pathologic specimens from 150 patients with endometrial carcinoma were reviewed to test the hypothesis that constitutionally predisposed evidence of endogenous hyperestrinism (i.e., obesity, hypertension, diabetes, nulliparity, leiomyomata, adenomyosis) have a more benign form than do who not fit this profile. Our results support hypothesis, but reveal certain other prognostic indicators, in addition factors relating tumor itself, including stage, grade, histologic...
Abstract The deformed structure of quench-hardened gold was examined with transmission electron microscopy. It found that plastic deformation takes place in confined regions, thereby forming the slip channels which are free tetrahedral stacking faults. From observation it concluded dislocations have contact interactions Small sized defects were often seen where dislocation activity had taken place. an analysis distribution shown these small products reaction between moving and
