蘇通長江公路大橋(以下,蘇通大橋と略す)は,中国江蘇省の蘇州市と南通市の間を流れる長江(揚子江)に架かった斜張橋であり,2008年6月30日に正式に開通した.蘇通大橋は,最大支間長・杭基礎深さ・主塔高さ・メインケーブル長さの4項目において世界最大斜張橋となっており,本橋の建設プロジェクトは21世紀の中国における橋梁建設技術の集大成と言われている. 本稿では,蘇通大橋の設計,施工,維持管理の各段階における技術的な検討課題や対策,そして,新たに行われた研究開発課題などについて取りまとめた.特に,本橋の特徴でもある大規模で大深度の杭基礎,高い主塔部,中央径間およびケーブルの設計や施工について詳述した.また,本橋の維持管理においては,加速度計や腐食センサといった多種のセンサと性能評価モジュールを連動させた構造ヘルスモニタリング(SHM)システムが採用され,目視点検と組み合わせた維持管理システムが構築されているため,本稿ではセンサ配置や維持管理システムの構成等についても紹介することにした.
