Cutaneous melanoma can lead to metastasis, and it is associated with high mortality. Currently, there are no widely accepted immunohistochemistry markers for prognosis in routine staging. Preferentially expressed antigen (PRAME) a possible biomarker several noncutaneous neoplasms. Ki-67 cell proliferation marker correlated poor outcomes many cancers. This study assessed PRAME as potential prognostic sentinel lymph node survival among patients. retrospective analyzing cutaneous cases from...
Background Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) is a multifactorial autoimmune disease that may affect the oral mucosa. The variable spectrum of lesions observed in SLE can pose challenges diagnosis, particularly when occur isolation. aim this study was to describe occurring patients with from Latin America. Methods This collaborative record-based involving 11 and maxillofacial pathology medicine services across Venezuela, Argentina, Chile, Brazil, Mexico describes clinicopathological profile...
Abstract Melanoma is an aggressive form of skin cancer. Its histopathological diagnosis may be challenging and subject to significant inter- intraobserver variability. It also a disproportionate source pathology malpractice lawsuits worldwide. The knowledge base on melanocytic lesions rapidly expanding, with many recent novel classification systems, therapies molecular targets. Hence, specimens diagnosed or suspected as should carefully appropriately sampled, fixed, processed analyzed...
Comprehensive genomic profiling of clinical samples by next-generation sequencing (NGS) can identify one or more therapy targets for the treatment metastatic melanoma (MM) with a single diagnostic test.NGS was performed on hybridization-captured, adaptor ligation-based libraries using DNA extracted from 4 formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded sections cut at 10 microns 30 MM cases. The exons 182 cancer-related genes were fully sequenced Illumina HiSeq 2000 an average depth 1098X and evaluated...
Objective To evaluate the association of age at first sexual intercourse with results cervicovaginal cytology. Study Design Observational analytical study about prevalence altered cytology in women aged between 18 and 34 years from a densely populated area Brazil, during 10 years. The patients were stratified into 2 categories according to their (13–16 17–24 years). Results From total 2,505,154 exams, 898,921 tests accordance inclusion criteria. Considering 4 or less as reference, those 5 9...
BACKGROUND: The incidence of melanoma has been increasing in Brazil and all over the world. Despite improvements diagnosis treatment, mortality remains unchanged. OBJECTIVE: To associate clinical histopathological aspects with evolution 136 cases cutaneous melanoma. METHODS: Retrospective cohort study that analyzed patients diagnosed during period from 2003 to 2011, at least 4 years follow up. Archived slides were variables (Breslow, ulceration, mitoses histological regression). Medical...

Abstract In English literature, there are only few reports of Warthin‐like papillary thyroid carcinoma. We presented three cases and provided clinical, grossing, cytological, histological correlation. our point view, the diagnosis carcinoma is feasible based on cytomorphological aspects. Usually those present moderately or highly cellular smears with many atypical Hürthle cells showing obvious nuclear features without structures, even if inflammatory background mild.
To identify associations between cytological criteria in fine needle aspiration (FNA) specimens and histological subtypes of lobular breast carcinoma (classical other types).FNA cytology mastectomy from 72 cases invasive were consecutively retrieved the files Amaral de Carvalho Hospital, Jaú-São Paulo, Brazil. All reviewed regarding five criteria: cellularity, cellular cohesion, presence inflammation, nucleoli nuclear atypia. The χ2 test or Fisher's exact tests with 95% confidence intervals...
