Infective endocarditis (IE) in patients with adult congenital heart disease (ACHD) remains a diagnostic challenge due to difficulties detecting endocardial lesions by echocardiography.
The latest guidelines recommend early intervention in adult atrial septal defect (ASD) patients with signs of right ventricular (RV) enlargement. However, the criteria RV enlargement for optimal remain unclear. We investigated preoperative determinants normalizing volume after transcatheter closure ASD adults.
<h3>BACKGROUND:</h3> COPD is characterized by progressive and irreversible air flow limitations. Single-inhaler therapies (SITTs) incorporating an inhaled corticosteroid, a long-acting muscarinic antagonist, β2-agonist have been shown to effectively alleviate symptoms improve lung function. Fluticasone-furoate/umeclidinium/vilanterol (F/U/V) budesonide/glycopyrronium/formoterol (B/G/F) are available as SITT in Japan. However, the clinical differences between these 2 combinations...
Pulmonary regurgitation (PR) is a risk factor for sudden cardiac death in adult patients with repaired tetralogy of Fallot (TOF). However, transthoracic echocardiography (TTE) cannot fully visualize the pulmonary valve (PV) and PR. We investigated whether intracardiac (ICE) could PV PR better than TTE. Thirty TOF (mean age 33 ± 15 years) scheduled catheterization underwent ICE. The visualization severity were classified into three grades. ICE depicted TTE (ICE vs. TTE: not visualized,...
Abstract Background Right ventricular (RV) pressure overload is directly related to the increase in mortality pulmonary hypertension. Pulmonary arterial compliance (CPA; stroke volume/pulmonary pulse pressure) was reported be an independent determinant of RV systolic afterload patients with hypertension (PAH). Recently, balloon angioplasty (BPA) has been reduce mean artery (mPAP) and vascular resistance (RPA) inoperable chronic thromboembolic (CTEPH). However, effects BPA on CPA remain...
Abstract Purpose : Accurate measurement of right ventricular (RV) size using transthoracic echocardiography (TTE) is important for evaluating the severity congenital heart diseases. The RV end-diastolic area index (RVEDAi) determined TTE used to assess dilatation; however, tracing line RVEDAi has not been clearly defined by guidelines. This study aimed determine exact method TTE. Methods We retrospectively studied 107 patients with atrial septal defects who underwent cardiac magnetic...
