The chili pepper is a very important plant used worldwide as vegetable, spice, and an external medicine. In this work, eight different varieties of Capsicum annuum L. have been characterized by their capsaicinoids content. fruits were cultivated in the Comarca Lagunera region North Mexico. qualitative quantitative determination major minor capsaicinoids; alkaloids responsible for pungency level, has performed validated chromatographic procedure (HPLC-DAD) after preliminary drying step...

Direct spectrophotometric determination of capsaicinoids content in Chiltepin pepper was investigated as a possible alternative to HPLC analysis. Capsaicinoids were extracted from red ripe and green fruit with acetonitrile evaluated quantitatively using the method capsaicin dihydrocapsaicin standards. Three samples different treatment analyzed for their successfully by these methods. HPLC-DAD revealed that capsaicin, dihydrocapsaicin, nordihydrocapsaicin comprised up 98% total detected. The...

Ontogenetic changes in venom composition have important ecological implications due the relevance of prey acquisition and defense. Additionally, intraspecific variation has direct medical consequences for treatment snakebite. However, ontogenetic are not well documented most species. The Mexican Black-tailed Rattlesnake (Crotalus molossus nigrescens) is large-bodied broadly distributed Mexico. To document test composition, we obtained samples from twenty-seven C. m. nigrescens with different...

Breast cancer is associated to estrogen exposure. Allelic variants involved in metabolism might change the risk of developing this neoplasia. We examined potential association breast Mexican women with polymorphisms CYP1A1 rs1048943, CYP1B1 rs1056836, COMT rs4680, GSTP1 rs1695, GSTT1 null and GSTM1 which are pathway. This study included 150 cases controls. A significant was observed between, rs1048943 (OR = 1.95, C.I. 1.13-3.36) rs1695 2.39, 1.24-4.24) cancer. increased when were stratified...

Concerning the genetic factors of obesity, no consistent association between populations has been reported, which may be due to frequency polymorphisms, lifestyle studied and its interaction with other factors. We a possible polymorphisms FTO rs9939609, PPARG rs1801282, ADIPOQ rs4632532 rs182052 obesity phenotypes in 215 Mexican children. Glucose, triglycerides, cholesterol, HDL LDL were measured. Cytochrome 1A1 (CYP1A1), glutathione transferase M1 (GSTM1), and T1 (GSTT1) catalyze the bioactivation detoxification of a wide variety xenobiotic compounds that are mutagenic and/or carcinogenic (e.g., polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons). Genetic polymorphisms these metabolizing enzymes have been shown to affect individual susceptibility environmental compounds. Although several studies published on relationship between CYP1A1*2C, GSTM1*0, or GSTT1*0 polymorphism cancer, not all findings can...
