A novel boronic acid fluorophore 1/beta-cyclodextrin (beta-CyD) complex sensor for sugar recognition in water has been designed. The probe 1 bearing pyrene moiety as a fluorescent signal transducer exhibits no fluorescence emission, due to its aggregation containing 2% DMSO; however, the addition of beta-CyD this solution largely changes UV-vis and spectra by forming an inclusion with beta-CyD, efficient emission response 1/beta-CyD upon binding is found be obtained at pH 7.5....

New fluorescent reagents, 2,2'-[oxybis(3-oxapentamethyleneoxy)]-bis[N-(1-pyrenylmethyl)benzamide)] (4) and its analogues (2, 3, 5) which have two pyrenes at the both terminals of polyoxyethylene compounds, were synthesized, their complexation behavior with alkaline earth cations was investigated by fluorescence spectrometry, lifetimes, 1H NMR spectrometry. These reagents (3−5) showed strong intramolecular excimer emissions around 480 nm in spectra. On metal cations, increase monomer emission...

There is an urgent need to develop a rapid and selective method for the detection of bacteria because delayed diagnosis overuse antibiotics have triggered drug resistance in bacteria. To this end, we prepared boronic acid-modified poly(amidoamine) generation 4 (B-PAMAM(G4)) dendrimer as cross-linking molecules that form aggregates with Within 5 min adding B-PAMAM(G4) solution bacterial suspension, large were observed. Interestingly, aggregate formation various was pH-dependent. In basic pH,...

Stable water-in-oil emulsion membranes can be prepared using [dilauryl(dimethyl)ammonium] bromide (DDAB), a cationic surfactant. We ultrasmall cyclodextrin (γ-CyD) nanogels (γ-CyDngs) by forming ionic pairs between the secondary hydroxyl groups of γ-CyDs and DDAB. Fluorescence NMR characterisation obtained γ-CyDngs revealed superior inclusion affinities compared with native γ-CyDs, beneficial for solubilisation hydrophobic compounds in water.
