Background: Low back pain (LBP) is a common musculoskeletal problem globally. Updating the prevalence and burden of LBP important for researchers policy makers. This paper presents, compares contextualizes global years lived with disability (YLDs) by age, sex region, from 1990 to 2017. Methods: Data were extracted GBD (the Global Burden Disease, Injuries, Risk Factors Study) 2017 Study. Age, region-specific analyses conducted estimate YLDs LBP, uncertainty intervals (UIs). Results: The...

This study reports chronic pain prevalence in a randomly selected sample of the adult Australian population. Data were collected by Computer-Assisted Telephone Interview (CATI) using generated telephone numbers and two-stage stratified design. Chronic was defined as experienced every day for three months six prior to interview. There 17,543 completed interviews (response rate=70.8%). reported 17.1% males 20.0% females. For males, peaked at 27.0% 65--69 year age group females, 31.0% oldest...

Lack of standardization outcome measures limits the usefulness clinical trial evidence to inform health care decisions. This can be addressed by agreeing on a minimum core set per condition, containing relevant patients and decision makers. Since 1992, Outcome Measures in Rheumatology (OMERACT) consensus initiative has successfully developed sets for many rheumatologic conditions, actively involving since 2002. Its expanding scope required an explicit formulation its underlying conceptual...

Abstract Objective To use data from the Global Burden of Disease Study between 1990 and 2017 to report rates trends point prevalence, annual incidence, years lived with disability for neck pain in general population 195 countries. Design Systematic analysis. Data source Diseases, Injuries, Risk Factors 2017. Main outcome measures Numbers age standardised per 100 000 were compared across regions countries by age, sex, sociodemographic index. Estimates reported uncertainty intervals. Results...
