Since the Lymphogranuloma venereum (LGV) outbreak was first described in Buenos Aires 2017, detected strains presented peculiar characteristics. Our goal to increase understanding of involved LGV Argentina. We characterized ompA gene sequences, using Sanger sequencing, 88 from 239 symptomatic patients enrolled between 2017 and 2019, selected 20 C. trachomatis for further characterization Multilocus Sequence Typing (MLST). Following analysis strains, we 43% L2b, 31% L1-like, 26% L2. Among 38...
Shigatoxigenic Escherichia coli (STEC) strains are worldwide zoonotic pathogen responsible for different cases of human disease including hemolytic uremic syndrome (HUS). Transmission STEC to humans occurs through the consumption food and water contaminated by faeces carriers person-to-person contact. The objective this study was two-fold: (1) investigate whether synanthropic rodents possible reservoirs in urban area (2) a particular genus out rodent is principal carrier STEC. One hundred...
Introduction: Shiga toxin-producing Escherichia coli (STEC) infections are the leading cause of hemolytic uremic syndrome (HUS). STEC is most common acute kidney disease, responsible for 20% renal transplants in Argentina. Methodology: In 2007, an epidemiological survey was conducted among 883 students from fifth and sixth years elementary education public schools San Martin City, Buenos Aires, Degree exposure to known risk factors previously detected region as primary causes evaluated. Risk...
Enteropathogenic Escherichia coli (EPEC) and Shiga toxin-producing E. (STEC) are pathovars of that impact human health by causing childhood diseases. In this work, 118 synanthropic rodents the genus Rattus from Buenos Aires, Argentina were evaluated as EPEC STEC carriers. Rectal swab samples captured animals conventional PCR to detect presence eae, stx1, stx2, rfbO157 genes. Twenty-one isolates obtained (17 seven four same animal). All tested negative for bfpA gene. One isolate carried iha...
