Pulse coupled neural network (PCNN) models are described. The linking field modulation term is shown to be a universal feature of any biologically grounded dendritic model. Applications and implementations PCNNs reviewed. Application based variations simplifications summarized. PCNN image decomposition (factoring) model described in detail.

Previous work by Johnson and Greene on resistive instabilities is extended to finite-pressure configurations. The Mercier criterion for the stability of ideal magnetohydrodynamic interchange mode rederived, generalization earlier obtained, a relation between two noted. Conditions tearing instability are recovered with growth rate scaling resistivity in more complicated manner than η3/5. Nyquist techniques used show that favorable average curvature can convert into an overstable often stabilize it.

Abstract Hydrogen peroxide decomposition rates were measured on five soils after incubation with and without added organic matter bentonite. The measurement was affected by soil type, addition of matter, bentonite drying the sample. two‐factor interactions × additive, bentonite, drying, additive highly significant. three‐factor interaction reaction rate greatly increased powdered milk but only partly lowered autoclaving.

Tuberculosis kills more people than any other infectious disease. Three pivotal trials testing 4-month regimens failed to meet non-inferiority margins; however, approximately four-fifths of participants were cured. Through a pooled analysis patient-level data with external validation, we identify populations eligible for treatment, define phenotypes that are hard treat and evaluate the impact adherence dosing strategy on outcomes. In 3,405 included in analyses, baseline smear grade 3+...

The effects of small electrical resistivity, viscosity, and thermal conductivity on hydromagnetic instabilities for diffuse linear pinch configurations are considered. For finite-pressure systems, higher order equations must be solved than in previous work that was applicable to stellarator or slab geometries. A careful treatment the problem matching perturbed solution across boundaries separate a resistive layer from outer regions clarifies relationship between ordinary obtained ideal...

Our understanding of mechanisms underlying progression from Mycobacterium tuberculosis infection to pulmonary disease in humans remains limited. To define such mechanisms, we followed M. tuberculosis-infected adolescents longitudinally. Blood samples forty-four who ultimately developed (“progressors”) were compared with those 106 matched controls, remained healthy during two years follow up. We performed longitudinal whole blood transcriptomic analyses by RNA sequencing and plasma proteome...
