Abstract Background High mobility group box-1 (HMGB1) is a newly recognized factor regulating cancer cell tumorigenesis, expansion and invasion. We investigated the correlation between serum HMGB1 levels clinical pathologic features of gastric evaluated validity as potential biomarker for early diagnosis cancer. Methods A total 227 subjects were classified into 5 disease groups according to 'gastritis-dysplasia-carcinoma' sequence carcinogenesis their analyzed by an enzyme-linked...

The benefits of treatment with antiviral therapy for severe adenovirus (AdV) pneumonia are not well established. We described the clinical characteristics and outcomes early cidofovir AdV in non-immunocompromised patients. retrospectively reviewed medical records all patients diagnosed between 2012 2014. A total seven were identified, isolates typed (n = 6) human AdV-B55. All had progressive respiratory failure lobar consolidation or without patchy ground glass opacity. Three required...

Abstract An outbreak of febrile respiratory illness associated with human adenovirus (HAdV) occurred in the South Korea military during 2014–15 influenza season and thereafter. Molecular typing phylogenetic analysis patient samples identified HAdV type 55 as causative agent. Emergence this novel necessitates continued surveillance civilian populations.

We investigated soluble human leukocyte antigen‐G (sHLA‐G) expression according to the phases of hepatitis B virus (HBV) infections and hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). A total 267 sera from anti‐HBs positive healthy individuals ( n = 50), chronic HBV carriers 45), as well patients with active 46), liver cirrhosis (LC, 46) early stage HCC 80) were collected assayed for sHLA‐G. Relationships between sHLA‐G levels clinicopathologic parameters including stages, differentiation grades,...

We evaluated quantitative hepatitis B surface antigen (qHBsAg) assays and a virus (HBV) core-related (HBcrAg) assay. A total of 529 serum samples from patients with were tested. HBsAg levels determined by using the Elecsys (Roche Diagnostics, Indianapolis, IN) Architect (Abbott Laboratories, Abbott Park, IL) qHBsAg assays. HBcrAg was measured Lumipulse assay (Fujirebio, Tokyo, Japan). Serum aminotransferases HBV DNA respectively quantified Hitachi 7600 analyzer (Hitachi High-Technologies,...

Klebsiella pneumoniae has been reported to develop increased antibiotic resistance. Ceftazidime-avibactam (CZA) is a novel with activity against serine-lactamase. Here, we investigated the sensitivity of carbapenem-resistant K. (CRKP) CZA and mechanisms drug resistance in our hospital.

Background A relationship between low vitamin D levels and the development or outcomes of respiratory diseases has been identified. However, there is no data on status in patients with acute eosinophilic pneumonia (AEP). We evaluated AEP among South Korean military personnel. Methods prospectively compared serum total 25-hydroxyvitamin [25(OH)D], 25(OH)D3, 25(OH)D2 AEP, pulmonary tuberculosis (PTB), community-acquired (CAP). Results In total, 65 diseases, including (n=24), PTB (n=19), CAP...
