Background: Cardiology divisions reshaped their activities during the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic. This study aimed to analyze organization of echocardiographic laboratories and echocardiography practice second wave COVID-19 pandemic in Italy, expectations for post-COVID era. Methods: We analyzed two different time periods: month November (2020) identical (November 2019). Results: During pandemic, hospital activity was partially reduced 42 (60%) wholly interrupted 3 (4%)...
Background: The Italian Society of Echocardiography and Cardiovascular Imaging (SIECVI) conducted a national survey to understand better how different echocardiographic modalities are used accessed in Italy. Methods: We analyzed echocardiography laboratory activities over month (November 2022). Data were retrieved via an electronic based on structured questionnaire, uploaded the SIECVI website. Results: obtained from 228 laboratories: 112 centers (49%) northern, 43 (19%) central, 73 (32%)...
Abstract Aims Advanced echocardiographic imaging (AEI) techniques, such as three-dimensional (3D) and multi-chamber speckle-tracking deformation (strain) analysis, have been shown to be more accurate in assessing heart chamber geometry function when compared with conventional echocardiography providing additional prognostic value. However, incorporating AEI alongside standard examinations may heterogeneous between echo laboratories (echo labs). Thus, our goal was gain a better understanding...
Abstract Background: The Italian Society of Echography and Cardiovascular Imaging (SIECVI) conducted a national survey to understand the volumes activity, modalities stressors used during stress echocardiography (SE) in Italy. Methods: We analyzed laboratory activities over month (November 2022). Data were retrieved through an electronic based on structured questionnaire, uploaded SIECVI website. Results: obtained from 228 echocardiographic laboratories, SE examinations performed 179 centers...
Abstract Background A stuck leaflet is a rare complication of transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI). It occurs when one the leaflets in implanted doesn’t open and close properly. This can lead to serious health problems, even death. Case presentation We describe case “open” after TAVI. To our knowledge, this first reported which frightening has been resolved by ballooning procedure, with no need for another implantation. Conclusions highlights potential role procedure as treatment
Membranous ventricular septal aneurysm (VSA) is an uncommon cardiac abnormality, potentially leading to several complications such as aortic valve prolapse, arrhythmias, and rupture. A young competitive soccer player presented for a post-COVID sports cardiology assessment, denying any previous cardiological evaluations. On transthoracic echocardiography, membranous VSA was incidentally found with no other abnormality nor hemodynamic impairment associated. well-oriented anamnesis guided by...
