The aim of the present work was to evaluate an environmental monitoring program for clean rooms, or classified environments, involved in filling and quality control biological products produced by Butantan Institute, São Paulo, Brazil. This established quantification, characterization seasonality microorganisms air operators and, moreover, determined alert action limits. total detectable microbial number showed some contrasts installed purification systems operational impact on adopted...

Abstract Congenital Zika is a devastating consequence of maternal virus infections. Estimates age-dependent seroprevalence profiles are central to our understanding the force We set out calculate infections in Brazil. analyzed serum samples stratified by age and geographic location, collected from 2016 2019, about 16,000 volunteers enrolled Phase 3 dengue vaccine trial led Institute Butantan Our results show that has remarkable geographical distribution, with an average first infection...

The use of a commercial kit for the monocyte-activation test (MAT) was evaluated assessing pyrogenic contamination hyperimmune sera . Three batches sera, two pyrogen free and one pyrogenic, were tested. Endotoxin spike recover indicated that sample dilutions from 1/2 to 1/10 are suitable. Kit transport storage conditions also evaluated, proving an adequate cold chain must be assured achieve good results. Furthermore, MAT seemed suitable replace rabbit (RPT) testing although further tests...

The efficacy of the Crotalus durissus terrificus antivenom administration by intramuscular (im) injection at same place im inoculation, C. d. venom was evaluated in mice. In three experiments two DL50 were inoculated and administered different ways: half ED50 intraperitoneal (ip) injection, place, immediately after inoculation thirty minutes inoculation; four fifth ip one inoculation. that route provided a higher protection to mice (a lower death rate 48 hours period) than when it parts, (p...

The 50% effective intraperitoneal (ip) dose of Bothrops jararaca antivenom (ED50) was assessed in mice immediately (ED50 Oh) and thirty minutes 30') after the intramuscular (im) injection two lethal (LD50) venom. efficacy injected at venom inoculation site by LD50 im route, followed 30 later administration ED50 either entirely ip route or 50 percent plus im, same site. It shown that 30' 3 times greater, than Oh more protective to (lower death rate 48 hours) when given ip. concluded that,...
