Hypersensitivity pneumonitis (HP) is an interstitial lung disease with diverse clinical features that can present a fibrotic phenotype similar to idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) in genetically predisposed individuals. While several single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) have been associated IPF, the genetic factors contributing HP (fHP) remain poorly understood. This study investigated association of

Aims: Interstitial lung disease (ILD) represents a common complication of connective tissue diseases (CTD). Early detection ILD is critical since patients often remain asymptomatic during the initial stages. While numerous studies have proposed various ultrasound protocols for evaluation, we find these to be time-consuming in our clinical practice. The aim this study introduce concise protocol screening pulmonary fibrosis. Methods: We conducted prospective observational pilot involving 28...

Background: Carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS) has emerged as an early indicator of cardiac amyloidosis (CA) caused by transthyretin-associated (ATTR) mutations, possibly linked to adverse cardiovascular outcomes. This case series examines the relationship between idiopathic CTS and CA imaging diagnosis. Methods: Twenty-two patients from cross-sectional study CarPoS (NCT05409833) were included. These underwent physical evaluation, laboratory exams, electrocardiography, echocardiography, magnetic...

Fibrotic hypersensitivity pneumonitis (fHP) is associated with significant morbidity and mortality. Interstitial lung disease-gender-age-physiology (ILD-GAP) performance in fHP outside the initial cohort was never performed. To assess ILD-GAP index's ability to predict mortality a Portuguese of patients analyse whether other clinical variables add value.Retrospective analysis two ILD centres. The baseline index calculated. Survival analysed months; primary outcome. Univariate multivariate...

Morbidity remains high among patients who undergo successful mechanical thrombectomy (MT) for anterior circulation large vessel occlusion (LVO). Stress hyperglycemia worsens the prognosis after acute ischemic stroke (AIS), but aggressively treating does not improve outcome. There is no consensus on how to best manage glycemia AIS. Glycemic variability (GV) reflects glycemic fluctuations over time and could be culprit. We aimed elucidate GV impacts outcome of AIS treated with MT.

Forecast of success with testicular sperm extraction and intracytoplasmic injection (ICSI) remains unknown, as predictive factors have rarely been studied. We evaluated the association among possible a successful biopsy clinical pregnancy. A consecutive sample men submitted to open in S. João Hospital was used. Patient's age, medical history, volume, spermogram, genetic testing, endocrinologic results, results pregnancy information were collected. From 113 included, it retrieve spermatozoa...
