Despite their role in host nutrition, the anaerobic gut fungal (AGF) component of herbivorous microbiome remains poorly characterized. Here, to examine global patterns and determinants AGF diversity, we generate analyze an amplicon dataset from 661 fecal samples 34 mammalian species, 9 families, 6 continents. We identify 56 novel genera, greatly expanding diversity beyond current estimates (31 genera candidate genera). Community structure analysis indicates that phylogenetic affiliation, not...
Abstract A suitcase laboratory was used for 16S rRNA amplicon sequencing to assess microbial water quality in the holy Bagmati River, Kathmandu, Nepal. SourceTracker analysis and Volcano plots revealed that communities downstream part of river were mainly contributed by untreated sewage. Seasonal variability sewage microbiome reflected quality. The bacterial genera Acidovorax, Geobacillus Caulobacter predominated upstream sites, while containing putative human pathogens gut bacteria, such as...
Streptomyces species are prolific sources of bioactive secondary metabolites known especially for their antimicrobial and anticancer activities. This study sought to isolate characterize antioxidant molecules biosynthesized by sp. KTM18. The potential an isolated compound its toxicity were accessed. The was purified using bioassay-guided chromatography techniques. Nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) experiments carried out structure elucidation. the determined DPPH free radical scavenging assay....
The Fifth International Conference on Bioscience and Biotechnology, 2024 (ICBB-2024), held in Godawari, Nepal, from 21 to 24 April 2024, aimed address planetary health challenges within the local context of Nepal while fostering global dialogue. Bringing together 240 participants 10 countries, including 20 international invited speakers, conference sought explore intersections human health, environmental sustainability, societal well-being. Jointly organized by Research Institute for...
Abstract Background Guava ( Psidium guajava Linn.) has been traditionally used in the treatment of a wide range diseases due to its rich content secondary metabolites. Aim This study was aimed evaluate effect altitude and solvent systems on guava leaves crude extract’s phenolics flavonoid content, antioxidant, antimicrobial, toxicity nature. Methods were collected from three different geographical locations Nepal while solvents with an increasing polarity index for extraction. The yield...

Reagentless optics-based techniques, such as fluorimetry, outperform all current methods in key requirement categories for microbial risk assessment of potable water resource-limited settings, provided that their specificity viable bacteria is improved.

Nonomuraea sp. strain C10 produces the cytotoxic natural product brartemicin. Here, we report its draft genome sequence to get insight into brartemicin biosynthesis and enable mining for novel secondary metabolites.
Yeasts cells isolated from dry yeast were immobilized in alginate and agarose to form beads. The fermentation of ethanol cheese whey was optimized with respect temperature, pH, rpm. A comparative study performed between free get the maximum production Results revealed that 35°C 4.5 pH 60 rpm is condition for bead. Similarly, 5.0 bead 80 cell respectively. Immobilised resulted 4.25% whereas 4.35% 4.30% after three days incubation under conditions. When same beads reused, obtained 1.8% 1.7%...

Spectral information from humic like-fluorescence, in addition to the spectra of tryptophan-like fluorescence, improve Receiver Operating Characteristic for detection fecal contamination water. To demonstrate this, we apply random forest algorithm enhance specificity 1 CFU/100 ml coliforms by ~21%.
Here, we report a 6.2-Mbp draft genome sequence of the bacterium Pseudonocardia sp. strain C8, which gave insight into complete secondary metabolite production capacity and hinted that possibly represents new species.
