Background: Recently, faricimab was approved as the new drug for neovascular age-related macular degeneration (nAMD). We lack knowledge to choose between existing and this use treatment-naïve nAMD cases. In study, we compared functional morphologic effects in loading dose patients with treated either intravitreal aflibercept (IVA) or (IVF) injection a clinical setting. Method: This retrospective study included 30 eyes of 28 who started treatment IVA June September 2022 29 were administered...
Purpose: To compare the visual outcomes of intravitreal (IVT) aflibercept with pneumatic displacement vs without for submacular hemorrhage (SMH) associated polypoidal choroidal vasculopathy (PCV). Methods: This retrospective study assessed patients SMH PCV who were treated and gas (aflibercept+gas group) or alone (monotherapy group). Patients followed at least 12 months, best-corrected acuity (BCVA) months primary outcome measure. Results: Forty-seven eyes 47 retrospectively analyzed from...
Objectives: To assess the initial anatomical and functional outcomes of switching to aflibercept 8 mg in patients with neovascular age-related macular degeneration (nAMD) previously treated anti-vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) therapy. Methods: Patients nAMD anti-VEGF drugs were switched mg. any exudative changes (subretinal fluid [SRF], intraretinal [IRF], or serous pigment epithelial detachment [sPED]) at time first injection, whose dosing interval before after did not differ by...
Abstract We report to evaluate if disorganization of the retinal inner layers (DRIL) obtained by swept-source optical coherence tomography (SS-OCT) predicts postoperative best-corrected visual acuity (BCVA) treat proliferative diabetic retinopathy (PDR). Twenty-one eyes 21 patients who underwent vitrectomy for PDR were studied retrospectively. BCVA and SS-OCT images until 6 months postoperatively. The associations between parameters measured in a 1-mm central foveal area evaluated. DRIL...
Recently, many resolution enhancing techniques are demonstrated, but most of them severely limited for deep tissue applications. For example, wide-field based localization lack the ability optical sectioning, and structured light susceptible to beam distortion due scattering/aberration. Saturated excitation (SAX) microscopy, which relies on temporal modulation that is less affected when penetrating into tissues, should be best candidate deep-tissue enhancement. Nevertheless, although...
To evaluate the relationships among morphology, fundus autofluorescence (FAF), and retinal sensitivity of photocoagulated lesions more than 1 year after panretinal photocoagulation in patients with proliferative diabetic retinopathy good vision.
PurposeTo evaluate the relationship between full-thickness macular hole (FTMH) onset and perifoveal posterior vitreous detachment using optical coherence tomography (OCT) data.DesignRetrospective study.ParticipantsA total of 742 patients with FTMH or impending (MH) in at least one eye, as determined by ophthalmoscopy OCT.MethodsMHs were staged OCT results. Patients membrane clearly detected images vitreoretinal adhesion size ≤ 1500 μm—eyes MH stages 1–3—were included study. The contralateral...
Abstract Background Indapamide, a sulfonamide diuretic used to treat hypertension, has been reported have ocular side effects of acute angle-closure glaucoma, transient myopia and choroidal effusion whose immediate etiology is uncertain. This report aims clarify the nature indapamide-induced edema entire eyeball using multimodal imaging. Case presentation A 60-year-old woman who was following long-term carbohydrate-restricted diet receiving oral treatment for hypertension referred our...
Small intestinal neuroendocrine tumor (NET) is uncommon, but intussusception caused by NET even rare. We report a rare case of single-incision laparoscopic surgery (SILS) for due to G1.A 72-year-old woman presented with vomiting, diarrhea, and abdominal pain. Contrast-enhanced computed tomography (CT) revealed the target sign in ascending colon. An enhanced nodule was detected at lead point, leading us suspect tumor. Colonoscopy showed point intussusception. Histological findings led...
Smart houses aim to offer an innovative solution provide a level of smartness that has not existed, such as home energy management or automation. Various devices must be connected function whole integrated system, so standards become important issue. An analysis is made the co-evolution technologies, key components and institutions in case smart houses. We address questions, 1) How technological accumulation process HEMS (Home Energy Management System), component taken place? 2) have...
Abstract We developed a technique to rapidly freeze biological systems during observation under an optical microscope, which allows for detailed at precise time in the dynamics high spatial resolution and quantifiability low-temperature conditions. Our study further found that ion distributions molecular conformations can be fixed space time, demonstrated by visualization of calcium waves rapid-frozen instant using fluorescent indicators. These results show time-deterministic cryo-optical...
We aimed to identify prognostic risk factors for visual deterioration in eyes with epiretinal membrane (ERM) and open-angle glaucoma (OAG) through long-term follow-up. In this retrospective observational case series, we examined consecutive ERM OAG over a minimum follow-up of 2 years. Visual outcomes were analyzed patients' undergoing peeling pars plana vitrectomy (PPV) (peeling group) only observation (observation group). Eyes followed less than years after PPV excluded. Among 100 from 84...
<p>In this paper, an analysis is made of the technology and standardization strategies regarding ECHONET KNX, which are de jure standards for smart houses in Japan Europe. Eleven interviews with main actors related to Consortium KNX were conducted. Three research questions set. What strategy concerns ECHONET? issues diffusion houses? underlying strengths weaknesses when compared KNX? The analyses showed that various towards different, based on their different perspectives, visions...
Abstract Background During panretinal photocoagulation (PRP), the outer retina, especially photoreceptors, are destroyed. such procedures, impact of retinal photocoagulation, which is performed in same photocoagulated area, may change if it applied to different locations with photoreceptor densities. Thus, we aimed evaluate influence density on PRP. Methods We constructed a three-dimensional (3D) average distribution photoreceptors 3D computer-aided design (CAD) software using previously...
PurposeTo define the role of optociliary shunt vessels (OSVs) in eyes with central retinal vein occlusion (CRVO) using OCT angiography (OCTA) macular parameters.DesignRetrospective, observational, consecutive case series.ParticipantsForty-one 38 patients CRVO were analyzed this study.MethodsOptic disc and macula imaged by swept-source OCTA (3 × 3 mm) as well high-quality fundus photography.Main Outcome MeasuresWe compared vessel density (VD) visual acuity between which OSVs developed those...
We report a novel case of vitreous hemorrhage associated with suspected rupture 2-disc-diameter retinal arterial macroaneurysm on the optic disc. A 90-year-old woman presented blurred vision (sudden onset) in her left eye. Examination fundus revealed acute onset unknown origin without detachment. She underwent vitrectomy, but after excision dense hemorrhage, hematoma appeared disc and was removed promptly. Because bleeding at base pulsating, first vitrectomy could not achieve hemostasis....
